Colossal Castle Contest IV
CC Team 29 X 06
The CC Team is proud to announce our fourth annual building contest: The Colossal Castle Contest IV.
It will begin on November 1st and end on December 31st, 2006.
This contest is a bit different than other contests.
We have a variety of categories each with one prize for the winner.
Some categories require small creations and others need larger ones.
Everyone, even with a limited supply of bricks, should be able to enter several categories.
We are looking for creativity, not who has the most LEGO.
Check out the prizes.
Six LEGOLAND Castle sets including the famed Yellow Castle are prizes.
There are are also rare accessories, custom castle figures and accessories, new sets, and a mystery prize.
It truly is colossal!
Thank you to LEGO, Little Armory Toys, Red Bean Studio, Nathan Todd, and Ben Ellermann for donating prizes.
The rules can be found here. Enjoy!

Leaning Tower of Pisa
Bruce N. H. 17 X 06
Arthur Gugick (Torgugick on Brickshelf) is a math teacher from Cleveland,
Ohio who has been building with LEGO for almost 40 years.
About a year and a half ago he found Bricklink and his building expanded exponentially.
His focus has largely been on architectural landmark, and he has a list of about 50 famous buildings he's planning to build.
Several of these buildings are from the castle era, including his
Leaning Tower of Pisa.
He says that at first he wasn't sure he could tackle this MOC,
but then he sat down and spent several hours doing calculations to figure out how to build it.
The main tower is made up of two concentric 13-sided polygons atop a 9-sided polygon base.
Some of his other MOCs include the Tower of London,
the Taj Mahal
and Notre Dame.
Right now he's working on the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building.
Arthur's work can be found in his
Brickshelf gallery or his
MOCpage.
He also has a personal site, A Piece of the World
that doesn't have many additional pictures of his work,
but it does have copies of newspaper articles featuring his LEGO creations.
He also builds MOCs on commission, and you can contact him through his site.
Arthur is an inactive member of COLTC, but he has attended the last two Brickfests.

Josh's NWBC Journal
Josh Wedin 11 X 06
All right here is my really long journal of the Con!
Sunday morning was a whirlwind of crazyness and fun.
I arrived soon after the doors opened and found that Castle had been invaded!
A large bulldozer, built by Justin Major, had started work on one of our castle walls.
So, naturally, my Vikings had to attack...
Read the entire journal entry,
view out the many NorthWest Brick Con
creations,
and discuss new medieval mocs like John Langrish's
Stoneguard Castle.
