Playmobil Prison Tower
Bruce 25 X 09

Many of us have previously expressed a wish that LEGO might consider the Playmobil line of products when thinking about the sorts of sets they produce. In addition to having some oft-desired themes that LEGO has never produced (for instance, they have a Roman series), many of the sets from their Knights line would make great LEGO sets. Marco Anselmi, medieval_total_lego in our forum, isn't waiting. He's been working on a project to build MOCs based on Playmobil sets, including his most recent, the Prison Tower. Note that the technic pin connectors, so this can fit into his modular city wall project. Marco says his next installment will be the sculptor's house.

Marco comes from Fano, Italy, on the Adriatic Sea. He was a big fan of the castle theme as a child but only came out of his dark age three years ago. In addition to CC, he is a member of ItLUG and Eurobricks. All of his creations can be found on MOCpages and Brickshelf.

Adventure in Michigan
Bruce 9 X 09

The traveling LEGO Castle Adventure exhibit has moved to Michigan, where it opens tomorrow (Saturday, October 10) at the Henry Ford Museum near Detroit. MichLUG members are going to take part in a building event to celebrate the opening day. The exhibit will remain in Michigan until January 3, 2010, when it will move on to Rochester, New York. I'd put up a picture from the exhibit, but I'm still enjoying having Seb in his costume on the front page.

BrickCon 2009
Bruce 6 X 09

BrickCon has come and gone. By all report, people had a great time. Check out people's galleries from the fest in this thread and maybe we can persuade some of the participants to spin their tales of battles fought and dwarves flung. Also check out the sig-fig photoshoot, where even those of us who were only there in spirit could join the fun. Hmm, I wonder if Aliencat had any trouble getting through airport security?

Weekly Set Review: Battle at the Pass
Ben E. 4 X 09

Join the weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 8813 Battle at the Pass.

Battle at the Pass was released in 2006 for Knight's Kingdom II. Five knights of Morcia defend their towers, wall, and gate with falling axes and boiling oil. Five rogue knights attack with their siege tower, catapult, and battering ram.
