Battle of the Castle Sets: 6075 vs 6077
27 VIII 14

Two sets enter the arena, only one can emerge victorious! 1992 set 6075, Wolfpack Tower, versus 1989 set 6077, Forestmen's River Fortress. Which castle set reigns supreme? Vote and share your thoughts on these two sets.

Vampire's Castle
26 VIII 14

Castor Troy has been working on his Vampire Castle for quite some time, and it shows in all of the intricate details. Be sure to check out the full scene in all its glory, along with his other MOCs, in his Flickr stream, and then discuss it in our forum.

Spastle dragon
24 VIII 14

"A party of adventurers - a warrior, a sorceress and an engineer - in their star-ship has traveled to the legendary Dimension door hub, from which any one of three kinds of dimension doors in the universe can be accessed. However, it is protected by an ancient black dragon, to make sure no such party would ever succeed. It seems to be a very tidy dragon too, seeing how there are not many bones laying around the platform."

That's how Deus Otiosus describes his space-castle, or spastle, mash-up, the dimension door. I highlight the dragon above. Check out this along with Deus' other MOCs in his Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

Ladyhawke
24 VIII 14

Pippo Zane reproduces the final scene from the 1985 movie Ladyhawke. While he's come up with figs for all of the movie's characters, and shows us the climactic duel, the real star of the show here is that amazingly intricate cathedral interior. Pore over all of the details, along with is other MOCs, in his Flickr stream and then come discuss it in our forum.

Bound
23 VIII 14

Gregory Tull is on a six-year epic quest, to make a full-length brickfilm. The 50 minute film is in post-production now, due out early next year, but you can watch the trailer and read more on his site. Then come discuss it in our forum.

Thorin takes the ALS Challenge
22 VIII 14

I asked for someone to make a castle-themed MOC based on the ALS ice bucket challenge, and Ariane M stepped up with Thorin takes the challenge.

ALS Challenge
21 VIII 14

Not the normal CC front page fare, but a great cause and fun video: Josh takes the challenge. Now someone go make a castle-themed MOC based on this! Help fight ALS.

Battle of the Castle Sets: Knight's Castle vs Black Falcon's Fortress
20 VIII 14

Two sets enter the arena, only one can emerge victorious! Set 6073, Knight's Castle, versus 6074, Black Falcon's Fortress. Which castle set reigns supreme? Vote and share your thoughts on these two sets in our forum.

Castle Geartop - and even smaller places
19 VIII 14

CC member Takata recently built Castle Geartop as an entry in the current Lands of Roawia Global Challenge. When this was posted on Flickr it sparked others to try their hands at very small scale micro castles, resulting in a micro-storm that has been dubbed the Stupidly Small Castle Challenge. All of Takata's MOCs can be found on his Flickr and MOCpage links. Discuss Castle Geartop, and other tiny places, in our forum.

CC Set Review: 10237 - Tower of Orthanc
18 VIII 14

Join the Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 10237 - Tower of Orthanc.

This massive 2013 set depicts Saruman's fortress and also includes Treebeard, Saruman, Gandalf, Wormtongue, a Mordor orc (why?) and an Uruk-Hai.

Caergrant Palace
15 VIII 14

If you were at the recent BrickFair gathering, you probably saw this imposing fortress, Caergrant Palace by CC member Bps7772000. Check out alternate views, details, and some interior views at his PhotoBucket link and then discuss it in our forum.

Battle of Eisenschlucht
13 VIII 14

CC members should be very familiar with Disco86, our reigning CCC Master Builder. His most recent castle MOC is the Battle of Eisenschlucht, which serves double duty as an entry in the current Lands of Roawia global challenge and in his ongoing Iron Builder face-off. Check this out along with Disco's other MOCs in his Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

Medieval History Timelines
11 VIII 14

Please check out the newest feature here at CC: Medieval History Timelines. This continual work-in-progress puts LEGO illustrations of events, people, places, and art/literature from the medieval era into their historical context. Leave questions and suggestions in this thread.

Watchtower of Gragoloon
10 VIII 14

Portuguese AFOL César Soares, Cesbrick in our forum, only came out of his dark age a few months ago, but he's already making a splash. Here is his latest MOC, the Watchtower of Gragoloon. Check this out along with his other work in his Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

Cornwalum Outpost
9 VIII 14

Forum member Pedro Ivo recently built Cornwalum Outpost for a contest in the LUG Brasil forum. Check this out along with all of his other MOCs on Flickr and then discuss it in our forum.

Dragon Lands
8 VIII 14

You may remember that a couple of years ago Nuju Metru built his own proposed sets for the three volumes of the Lord of the Rings. He's back, with a fantasy line of his own design, Dragon Lands, with a series of hypothetical sets at different price points. Seriously, LEGO, hire this guy as a set designer. Check out Dragon Lands along with Nuju Metru's other MOCs on Flickr and Brickshelf and then discuss them in our forum.

Gradior Castle
6 VIII 14

Mahjqa (Peer Kreuger, Mahj in our forum) has posted a pretty amazing castle, Gradior. To see why it's amazing, be sure to watch the video. Check out this along with all of Mahjqa's creations on his website Mahjqa.com, his YouTube channel and his Flickr stream and then discuss it in our forum.

Asterix and Obelix
5 VIII 14

IamKritch has been working on the main characters from the Asterix and Obelix comics, posting his Obelix several months ago and then just recently presenting Asterix and the dog Dogmatix. These are only a few of the great MOCs you can see in IamKritch's Flickr stream. Check them all out, and then discuss them in our forum.

Lothlórien
4 VIII 14

CC member Sergeant Chipmunk recently built this great MOC, Lothlórien, showing Frodo and company entering the enchanted wood for the first time in the Fellowship of the Ring. Check out this, along with all of his other MOCs, on Flickr and then discuss it in our forum.

CC Set Review: 79005 - The Wizard Battle
2 VIII 14

Join the Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 79005 - The Wizard Battle.

This 2013 set was the first to include Saruman and also the Sauron's eye Palantir, along with Gandalf the Grey at a pretty cheap price point.

August Seed Part Challenge
1 VIII 14

Try your hand at the August Seed Part Challenge. Come up with a castle MOC that somehow incorporates the part of the month - the hose nozzle - for fame and prizes. For complete details and entries, see this thread.
