Categories and Prizes

Each category has its own prize for the highest scoring creation. Most of the prizes are castle sets from the 1980’s and early 1990's. The sets are used and but should be in good to very good condition. See links for actual photos of used sets. Most sets have instructions but boxes are not included. All other prizes are new. We would like to thank the Little Armory, Red Bean Studio, and LEGO for donating prizes for this contest.

Siege Weapons - 6039 Twin Arm Launcher

Build one of various possible siege engines. Ideas include battering rams, catapults, ballistae, and trebuchets.

Medieval Life - 6035 Castle Guard

Build a small non-military building focusing on medieval life. Ideas include farms, houses, wells, and barns.

6022 Horse Cart


Build a medieval cart or wagon. Ideas include carts haycarts and prison wagons.

6034 Black Monarch's Ghost


Build a shop that has a "LEGOLAND" castle wall back and faces inward. Examples include 6041 Armor Shop and 6040 Blacksmith Shop.

Medieval Ships - 6057 Sea Serpent

Build a Medieval Ship. Ideas include a trade cog, a viking ship, and a ferry.

Outlaw Fortress -
6066 Camouflaged Outpost


Build a stand alone fortress, outpost, or hideout for outlaw factions such as the Forestmen, Bulls, or Wolfpack. Creations should fit on a 16x32 baseplate or smaller. Examples include 6066 Camouflaged Outpost and 6075 Wolpack Tower.

Castle Vignette -
Prison Vignette


Build a castle related vignette. These scenes should be built on an 6x6 or 8x8 base.

Build a freestanding tudor frame building. It should be similar in style to 3739 Blacksmith Shop designed by Daniel Siskind.

Yellow Castle Category -
Knight by Anthony Sava


Create a castle or tower in the style of 375 Yellow Castle. The walls must be yellow. This creation should be made mainly of basic bricks, figures, and accessories available before 1984. Custom shield, armor, and flag stickers can be used. The baseplate should not be larger than 32x32 studs.
Fantastical/Mythic Customization -
Corinthian Armor


Create a fantastical/mythic customized figure using modified bricks, custom accessories, and/or stickers. Ideas include wizards, elves, and fairies.

Create a realistic/historical customized figure using modified bricks, custom accessories, and/or stickers. Ideas include armed knights, soldiers, monks, and villagers.

Design a medieval invention that is ahead of it's time. They can be mechanically or magically powered. Ideas include flying machines, siege machines, and automobiles.

Make a brick built medieval or mythical beast which will attack your kingdom. Ideas include dragons, lions, wolves, and bears.

Master Builder -
Book: 50 Years of Play


This prize will be awarded to the builder who enters 7 or more categories and has the highest score when their top seven creation scores are averaged.
