DragonlustChapter IV: The Perloined Pendants
Lord Void had waited too long. It had been five hours and yet there was no word for Majisto. Lord Void launched himself off his thrown and charged out of the great hall.
“If you want something done right you have to do it yourself!” he muttered.
Snatching up his staff, he threw open the giant oak doors and strode out of the fortress. He soon came to a large hill on top of which was located Majisto’s Workshop. Lord Void passed the tower and stopped at a platform where Majisto cast spells. Lord Void positioned himself on the platform and wielded his staff of power.
“I SEEK THE PENDANTS OF KING KRIS!!” he shouted. With a flash of fire, he was gone.
Power pulsed through Lord Void. The Pendants were close, he could feel it! He swirled about caught sight of a crouched figure who was holding a small object. Lord Void drew out a long, wicked-looking knife and was about to slice at the figure when another small person charged into Lord Void shouting “Nooooo!”
Lord Void kicked the small figure aside, plunged the knife into the first figure and snatched up the pendant. He chuckled.
“Arrrggghhhhhhh!” Reno shouted. The dagger had pierced his shoulder.
“Reno! Get up!” Aros shouted. Reno could here the sound of Aros drawing his sword, as did Luxus.
“Deathers!!” Reno howled through his pain. Blood spurted through his hand that was clutched around his shoulder, the dagger was not a warrior's dagger, it was a Sorcerer's dagger. Reno let go of his shoulder and let the blood spill freely. He pulled out a small metal case out of his bag, plucked up the Dragons Mixed blood and slipped it into his pocket. He then opened the case, pulled out a small herb and pushed it into his wound. Reno screamed in agony, and attempted to get up. He unsteadily limped across to the nearest Deather, and drew his sword. He quickly slashed, but his blow went short, as he could not concentrate. The Deather raised his dark blade, and readied himself to slash. But, before he could slash, he was layinggraduate programs usa on the floor, dead. Luxus pulled his sword from the Deather’s neck.
The distant howl of Lord Void was ringing the air. Reno stumbled forward, and began to break into an odd run.
Lord Void whirled about. Where is the other Pendant?? Where is it??
His summoned Deathers were taking care of the three persons so he had time to concentrate his power on finding the other Pendant. He clutched his staff of power and swung it about in an arch until it nearly wrenched itself out of his hands. The remaining Pendant is over there!
Lord Void dashed over and sliced the second figure across the back from left shoulder to right leg with his knife. The figure fell with a cry, and Lord Void snatched up the second Pendant.
Both Pendants were now his! With a flash, Lord Void and his minions were gone.
Lord Void reappeared in the Fire Breathing Fortress with a pop. He whirled around, grinning madly, pendants in hand, and caught sight of Majisto, who was cringing in the corner.
“I see you’ve decided to return!” Lord Void spat.
“M-m-my Lord, sir, I-I see you've suc-suc-ceeded!” Majisto trembled.
“I have, no thanks to you!” Lord Void snarled, “Now get up! I’ve got the pendants, I’ve got the Eroth Gamus, now what?!?”
Majisto scurried off and returned moments later with a dog-eared book. He leafed through it until he came to what he was looking for. He read, and then said slowly, “‘The wielder of the Twin Pendants will split them, and they will be one. This single Pendant shall birth the Eroth Gamus.’”
Lord Void frowned. “But I am their wielder now, how do I ‘split’ them?”
Majisto trembled. “Forgive me, sir, but you stole those Pendants from someone, did you not?”
“Yes, why does it matter?”
“Because…” Majisto explained haltingly, “You cannot wield the Pendants without them being given to you...free will must be involved…”
Lord Void glared. He suddenly remembered a name that the little figure shouted when he had taken the Pendants; ‘Reno’.
“Then I must fine this Reno…” Lord Void stated, glaring.
Lord Void was tired. The strain of the magic he had preformed to take the Pendants from Reno had drained him. He drifted to his quarters and almost instantly fell asleep.
