Re: new gold "pieces" vs. old

It was always exciting getting them in a set, and cramming as many as you could into a chest (did anyone else keep the sprues as 'ingots'?) Absolutely! The more you had in a chest, the more rich and powerful you were. Those sprues were awesome as ingots. We would value them higher than the actually...

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle vs 6080 King's Castle

King's Castle for me every time. If for no other reason than it fits in better with the other modular castle sets of its time. If I were to use one as a standalone keep it would be a closer choice, but I would still go for 6080 due to its colour. The light grey with the mottling just looks right. I ...

Impressive as always, loving the variety of helmets on the rebel pilots in the briefing room.

Re: Comparison of Lego prices between USA and other countries

And Europe isn't still in a downturn?

From what I've seen, barring sales tax, UK prices in £ are roughly US prices in $, today £1=$1.54. I can't see that level of price difference being solely down to operating costs.

Simple economics though, price at what the market will bear for max profits.

Re: Motors

This is what I use:

If I remember correctly it's a reduction of 40:1 and it's quite compact. I have mine from ages back though, don't know how often it comes up now.

Re: What type of helmet is this?

There's quite a similar neckguard on the Sutton Hoo helmet:

Although the noseguard is clearly different.

Re: Collectable Minifigures v.3 Suggestions

cthulu (is that how it's spelled?) Since Cthulhu is a deity of sorts, who is presumed to be large in mass also in length, I don't think this would be possible. That being said, a tentacled minifigure is currently in some (?) Atlantis sets. Cthulu: http://www.irregularwebcomic.net/118.html http://ww...

Re: Who's a lucky boy then

Were they yours and your mother packed them away? I know my parents don't have any secret hidden stash of LEGO, because I never let our sets out of my grasp. But I know a lot of my parents' friends have large stashes stored away in their attics and basements because their kids have grown up and mov...

Who's a lucky boy then

Mum's moving house soon and I've just been helping her clear out her loft. I think you can tell where this is going.... Just found a box with between 50 an 100 Black Falcon and Crusader figs, along with various sets, then another box. This had MISB Black falcon's fortress, 2 x MISB Guarded Inn, MISB...

Going slightly off topic, how many else of you set up your figs to be left-handed?
