This is excellent!

The legs are exactly what they should be. Simple and clean!
Keep up the good work.

... would it be possible for anyone to make a more scaled version? The seven tiers and all? It is not impossible. But it will require 3 to 4 times the amount of bricks. I'm passing for the opportunity for now. 8) But who knows where we will be in 5 years? - I don't like the decals and custom flags....

Truly Excellent. Recently I read Tolkien's "The Silmarillion". Your MOC reminds me of Ered Gorgoroth, a mountain range infested by giant spiders and the like. (I had to look up that name, so don't think I am a walking encyclopedia  ) One nitpick: I saw this on Brickshelf before readi...

This thread is very interesting. It is kind of a long story for me: My dark age lasted from about 14 to 26. The last castle set I bought before my dark age was the Sea Serpent (6057). I hardly played with it :( . I stowed away everything I had shortly after that. Through the years I kept the fire sm...

This is a good effort, given the limited amount of bricks. Some improvements I would suggest: - Add a little bit of detailing in the walls. For instance, if you use dark grey plates to make the floors, this makes dark lines between the different levels. I like that effect. - Add a railing to the sta...

My favourite detail are the gargoyles at the top corners. Do you have a close up of those?

Gumpy, about the scale and planning of the MOC: I spent a lot of time making ground plans for various sizes. Initially, I wanted to have something about 1.5 times larger (3 by 3 grey base plates), with 5 levels. But after some quick estimates of the required bricks and available space on the table, ...

Nice wall. It looks very defendable. I especially like the battlements on top. One nitpick: I think that it would look better if the slopes at the bottom were broken up in a sequence like : 2 studs straight wall - 2 studs slope - 2 studs straight wall - 2 studs slope - 2 studs straight wall and so o...

As others already have said: excelent transformation of the hat.
I am always surprised at how "unuseable" parts can be put to good use.

Very nice indeed!

I love the unique roof with the black borders. Also the details around the front gate are nice.

A lot of activity inside with a lot of attention to detail.

best regards,
Stefan

If this were available right now, I would buy a lot of them. The minifig is universally useable. Also, all parts are extremely useful for buildings and landscaping.

Thanks for al the nice comments. Indeed, there are only 4 levels to my city. Obviously I thought about having more, but at the given footprint 4 levels is best. More levels would have meant a lot less room for buildings, which I considered to be too much of a sacrifice. For those wondering about the...

Minas Tirith

Hello everybody, I am proud to present my most ambitious MOC yet: the city of Minas Tirith. I already mentioned here that I was planning to build it and after almost a year of building on and off, it is finally ready. So this is the folder when public and this is a preview. I tried to create the sam...

What is there to add?

This is a great MOC.
I like the stair, realistic rock and the really nice landscaping. But the minifigs are the best: a lot of things going on on al sides.

best regards,
Stefan

Hi Jonathan, 15 years is a substantial dark age. This is a good way to come out of it. Just don't expect that you will ever feel satisfied with the number of pieces you have... I also like the combination of the dark grey with the light gray. It is this kind of building details that will make your c...
