Nice trees! It's a pity though that we don't have the premolded kind any more. It's possible for TLC to manufacture dozens of new, expensive molds of limited utility every year, but it's impossible for them to remake an old piece that so many fans would want. Go figure.

Where should I connect it?
Jojo shows that it can be done:

I think that 6086 is the best looking of all the castles - it takes all the strands of castle design of the previous 8 years and weaves them into an elegant whole. While it is neither as stable nor as flexible as 6080 or 6085, which decreases its play value, I cannot fault its appearance. Although t...

Great set - it has great play value with two factions well represented, and I like the appearance of both the castle and the catapult. Since I don't own the set I can't judge its functionality but I've heard both good and bad. Too bad there were so few modular sets with black walls. While I like 606...

A new year, and an excuse to resurrect and update my long dead thread  2005 was a difficult decision; in my case no set really screamed "best". There were a number of competent ones, including 8877 and 7019, but the main models were still a little to juniorized for my taste. So in...

evil-bay The evil-ness of evil-bay has grown exponentially in 3 years. I remember when I rediscovered lego at the beginning of 2003, I passed on the opportunity to buy misb, fixed price ("buy it now") sets that I thought then were ridiculously overpriced - including two I regret: 6086 for...

First, I agree entirely with Freak. Trying to be prim and proper about what is, after all, a toy seems a little silly. Second, there are times when, due to the success of a product or brand, the name of that product comes to represent the entire category to which it belongs. "Polaroid" pic...

Space: 1979-1983, 1987-1990, 1992.
Pirate: 1989-1993.
Western: 1996.

I think the islanders added a third dimension to the pirate line, just like forestmen did for castle (it was no longer just soldier vs pirate, or one knight vs another) and thus helped to flesh out the line. The sets have great play value (particularly 6278 and 6264) as well as some neat ideas. Howe...

Red/yellow lion barding gets my vote. I wish they would release a blue/yellow lion barding to complement it. (And while they're at, I wish they'd bring out falcon barding!) The dragon bardings are classy too. Nothing that came after that really strikes my fancy. PS - It is so nice to get back to thi...

Some reconsiderations / explanations of my previous choices: I had somehow overlooked Sopwith Camel for 2001 - this now takes my vote for the year. Although I listed 6950 as my best set of 1982, my sentimental favorite is 6362 Post Office, which I think of as one of the most quintessential Town sets...

Best set of each year.

What's your choice for the best set of each year? Below are mine (suggestion - list only those years where your opinion differs from mine). The years cover every year since the start of lego "system", although I include both system and nonsystem sets. I realize some may disagree with my re...

My pet peeve with all this is the lack of continuity. In the old days, there were just a few themes which were around year after year for many years. A kid could build up a collection in a given theme over the course of time. Now, we have a gadzillion themes that only last a couple of years, or them...

Great set, 10/10, others have said enough, so I won't elaborate. With regard to "playability", normally I would consider that in my review, but IMO this was designed with adults in mind, and as a model not a playset, so it doesn't bother me that you can't move the figures inside. For simil...
