To give more of a background to this issue - this contest was my baby and I probably wouldn't have given over the main responsibility to anyone else. More prodding might have worked, but Bruce and Ben prodded me a fair bit. The key issue was my own prioritizing of my time, between school and baby, I...

BTW, shouldn't the best overall story get Vladek's Castle and the Short Story Winner the Viking Fortress? I'm afraid this contest really made my esteem for this site sink quite a bit... First, Viking Fort has more pieces than Vladek - I figured the overall winner should get the most pieces as a pri...

The End of an Era

Well guys, it has almost been a year. Needless to say: teaching + baby has kicked my butt. That isn't an excuse, but an explanation. Sorry to everyone, but here it is: The Winners of the Story Telling Contest Best Illustrated Short Story (wins Vladek's Castle ): Kazimir by Stephen "Athos" ...

Uhm.. not to be whiny or anything, but how´s the judging going? Been more than a month since I last heard anything now.. I know that you have lives besides LEGO and I respect that, but so do the contestants (including myself) and we (or I at least, can only speak for myself) spent one **** of a lot...

I know you judges are very busy, but could you give us new deadline, or at least an approximation of when the judging will end and the winners announced? (The old deadline said it would end during the first half of october.) I'm sure all the contestants would. Thanks in advance! Yeah, yeah - I suck...

Do you think we could get all the entries grouped in a central location? I'd like to check out the competition... Yeah, I second that. I'm definately going to do this. Probably this weekend when I get some time. Some of the stories were emailed to me as attachments, so I am going to arrange to have...

Re: The Main Character

I've been writing a lot over the years and yet I can never seem to write a decent, interesting main character for the plot to follow - they all come across as cliches; whether it's the reluctant hero, the naive hero, the anti-hero, the misunderstood hero...they all come across as flat and dull. How...

This brings me to the deadline. When you say the deadline is September 25th, does that mean we can still enter stories on the 25th, or that our last chance was the 24th. Stupid question, I know, but that extra day might be all I need. All entries need to be emailed to me by 11:59pm Sept 25th...

Ok, I have a couple questions regarding my comic(s).. Are we allowed to do a comic that can be continued, like say a comic-line, or do you prefer a whole comic story with a begining and end? What would you say is a good average length for a comic entree? I have my comic (Comics if I happen to have ...

Unfortunately, I haven't recieved any entries. I hope that this contest doesn't just peter out with no involvement.

Remember everyone: there is no minimum length!!

To be honest, I created the limits based off the total number of photos rather than the 'length' of a story. However, I'm not sure I totally agree with your appraisal. Comic stories and Short stories are two totally different mediums and comparisons between the two can be difficult. I would write a...

What if two ppl work together on a project? and if u enter 2 comix and one wins grand prize can the other one win best comic(if itsworthy of either of course). Two people can work together, however one person can only win one prize. Since there are only three prizes, we want three winners. -Lenny

If a bad guy falls off a cliff and yells, "No!" It takes up 1 sentence, which is approximately 1/500 of your text, while in comic-book form it takes out 1/120, almost a 5 times difference. To be honest, I created the limits based off the total number of photos rather than the 'length' of ...

If it is a castley cannon, then maybe.

I just wonder if sexual violence is ok if some characters are just talking about it. Ya, I don't have a problem with that. Can we photoshop backgrounds into pictures of our mocs? Yes. Also, is it alright if I build all my models in some kind of vignette form, ie, some micro, others maxi vigs, etc? ...
