Renderings ok to submit?
Normally for Colossal Castle Contests it is fine. But I believe that LEGO would like to see brick built creations in this contest.

Question: Renderings ok to submit? Assuming of course the render only uses actually existing (type and color) lego pieces, minifigs, etc. ie: POV-Ray render of ldraw generated scene as opposed to the un-photogenic ldraw render Sorry if its been covered but I read all pages in the thread without seei...

Y'all are just so organized. Mine just go in one huge bin which I wake the neighbors up with when finding pieces.

It's surely something like this: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=8953 All the Lego stores have their own individual patterned brick like this. Nothing special really, just a way of saying you went there. The store bricks are usually 2x1 bricks. Someone had a brickshelf gallery of a b...

Actually about the spray paint... don't at all except for maybe a base coat and do it from a distance with fast swaths to keep clumping to a minimum. You're far better off using acryllic model paints. I would suggest the Games Workshop paints becuse they're expensive but come in just the right consi...

If you're using WinXP it comes with a cheapo photo editor that while it's no Photoshop, is quite handy for resizing images or altering their file type.

The travesty that is flesh colored minifigs is never a topic that gets old. Nor are the greys. I'll keep arguing about them until Lego relents or I die.

The models lego has used, not just for castle, but all genres have always been gross approximations or representational. This is why Castle walls are short and thinner than those in my condo. This is also why town's cars seat 1 minifig abreast. But if you're going for a "realistic" castle ...

Only 4.8 feet thick? Pah... My battering ram could take that down, and it was made for wooden gates. :P

Actually I'd go for walls more like 6-10 studs wide, and largely solid. That makes them more in scale, if indeed you are trying to achieve a real world scale.
