My LEGO Castle Tech page links to many ballistas, battering rams, catapults, and trebuchets, several of which work, and some of which have instructions.

I've got a couple links to centaurs: see the entry "Race" on my LEGO Castle Tech page.

I have two centaurs of my own that I'll take pictures of shortly.

Re: Classic-Castle.com's policy on LEGO Ninja

The posting of LEGO Ninja themed personal creations (MOCs) and all other oriental themed personal creations (MOCs) of clearly medieval style, i.e. before or just at the introduction of firearms, are welcomed and encouraged to be shared. Such personal creations (MOCs) are appropriate for the Castle ...

I wouldn't say that gunpowder alone did all that. European rediscovery of the Roman tactics of battle (massed men in formations, to improve morale and force) did more to change the battlefield than a technology that was mostly ineffective until the American Civil War introduced rifles which rotated ...

I think probably the most important question is whether or not Ninja MOCs, and discussion of the Ninja subtheme, help us build castles and related structures. In the case of the castles themselves, I would definitely say that there are many great defensive elements in Japanese castle design, and the...

Mr. D wrote:The little building with slats on the sides is neat but what is it? A chicken coop?
It's called an "espigueiro", and is used to dry maize (corn). I found a really neat picture of one, and built a model of it, but haven't yet taken pictures.

WOO! Thank you so much! Now I have to build a castle worthy of that drawbridge. Good thing I ordered some old grey brick and plate packs. ;) Thanks for the worthy competition:  both the runners-up were beautiful and functional, and did a great job of demonstrating the principles. The design I...

Shame it's raining, they can't set fire to the town. :(

Nifty postprocessing. Which program did you use, and which filter?

Is the battering ram with standard shown separately anywhere? I'd like to add it to my Lego Castle Tech page.

Hi Catena, The prow is excellent. I like the metal tip - even the plate hinges give an interesting look. Do you have plans to make a ship for this? Ben Thanks, and good question. The "ship's-prow" part referred to its shape, not its use in ships. It was usually used in land sieges, on the...

Ship's-prow Tortoise

Inspired by an Osprey book on Greek and Roman siege machines, I created a ship's-prow tortoise for my BrikWars TL2 Roman Army. Similar in purpose to a mantlet, a tortoise is a slow-moving or stationary structure of wood and iron used to defend beseigers against counterattack. http://www.jcatena.net/...

Here's my take on this: If someone solicits you to purchase "your own (or your family's) coat of arms", it is almost always bogus. If ever a blazon (the text description of the coat of arms) was granted to someone with your last name, this has nothing to do with you and you have no rights ...
