Re: Nuremberg Toy Fair: 2011 Kingdoms Set Pictures

Maybe I am in the minority but I don't understand why having more detailed and appropriately scaled weapons is a bad thing. Most people have a plethora of the existing weapons anyway so these provide something fresh. I hope these sets do well at retail, specifically the Mill Village Raid set. If it ...

Re: Nuremberg Toy Fair: 2011 Kingdoms Set Pictures

Hope someday will finaly make a church or something like that, since religion was really powerful during medieval ages or a port since boats were also used much for trade those days. I highly doubt we will ever see a church released by LEGO. Considering how PC most toys have to be these days I am s...

Re: Nuremberg Toy Fair: 2011 Kingdoms Set Pictures

I am pretty excited about the new sets. They could have just hashed out some new buildings and slapped a 2011 release date on them. Instead they went the extra mile and are giving us a plethora of new pieces in these sets. 7189 - Obviously the centerpiece of this year's releases I'm excited that the...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Dark Dragon's Den

I find it ironic that this thread has been resurrected while there is a nice discussion about the decline of Lego castle ongoing. Certainly there is a correlation between this set and the decline of Lego castle. Therefore, it is only fitting that this set's review would be brought to the forefront. ...

Re: Battle Dragon 6018 again.

According to Brickipedia this set is a Black Falcon's set: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/6018_Battle_Dragon Personally, I have always considered this a Black Knight's set because of the dragon head on the stern as well as the design of the minifig torsos. However, I can see how the affiliation of this ...

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?

Surprisingly I felt the first decline already in 1990, not knowing then what was to come. I concur with this although I was too young at the time to know any better. I was just getting into Lego in 1990. For me the sets from 1990 - 1992 were great. Even today sets like Sea Serpent, Black Knight's C...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Prison Carriage Rescue

This set was produced to get the new figures into people's hands cheaply as well as to give kids a nice little set that they can buy with their own money. In my opinion this set is a figure pack. The actual battle packs were about $15 for 5 figures. This set is $10 for 3 figures and a horse as well ...

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?

I suppose the subject of "decline" is a matter of personal opinion and tastes. I am more interested in sets that try to capture a more realistic feel than a "playset" or extreme "fantasy" feel. The more outlandish the sets became, the more turned off I was by them. Yes ...

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?

It has been a long time since I have posted but I feel compelled to voice my opinion on this topic. For me particularly the decline of castle, and LEGO as a whole was the 1997 lineup. I was always a castle/space/pirates guy. I pretty much loved all of these lines until 1997 rolled around. I will nev...

Re: New Black Falcon's Castle MOC

My original design had entry ways up to the tower tops as seen here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1369773 When I increased the size of the towers in front and made some alterations to the door and drawbridge system it ruined the existing staircase design I had in place so I reluct...

New Black Falcon's Castle MOC

Back at the end of 2005 I constructed the Black Falcon's Keep which was a reinterpretation of the famous Black Falcon's Fortress. The original thread can be found here: http://www.classic-castle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5632 In 2007 I decided to increase the size of the fortress while I was...

I haven't been posting lately as I haven't been building (although I have come up with an idea for my next larger scale MOC and I plan to get going in the next few weeks), but I have been lurking in the forums looking at other people's MOC's. Well, I finally felt the need to comment on this one. If ...

I never did get this set when I was younger, but I did want it. To this day I still do not own it. I think the look of the tower is very fitting for the Wolfpack. It looks like a lonely abandoned structure that the Wolfpack found and inhabited. I like the fact that the bottom level is flooded (but o...

There isn't much to this set but it was still a decent buy. For a few bucks you get a yellow flag, a spear, a sword, a shield, and a Lion Knight as well as a treasure chest and some wheels. I like that the set comes with plenty of weapons so that you may pick and choose how you wish to arm your forc...

I really liked this MOC. I think the idea of "battle aftermath" is an interesting concept to explore. It would be interesting to see a larger scale MOC based on the concept, with a castle or keep having some damage on it while dead soldiers await their burial.

Good job.
