Re: Standing at the crossroad...

How drastic is the grey change? Would my old pieces stand out badly in a coursing of new pieces?

Re: Standing at the crossroad...

Wait a minute...

*Is fresh from the Dark Ages and hasn't seen his old LEGO in years*

...They changed all my grey!? Are all the grey pieces I have from 1992 not the same as current grey?

Re: torture device ideas

Hmmm... I think I could pull off a functional iron maiden with all the teeth pieces that came with the Troll Mountain Fortress. Or horns, or whatever they are. Dunno about making it look interesting.

Have you made a rack?

Re: Planning tips.

The best place to get bulk bricks if they are 1x4 or smaller is at pick a brick walls at lego stores. I wrote an entire thread breaking down costs for buying bricks in bulk in this thread. However, pick a brick walls have very limited sizes and colors of brick. There was a LEGO store in my home cit...

Re: Planning tips.

My head may explode before the first brick is laid :? A 32 x 32 box is my biggest fear with an MOC, but I feel like squares and rectangles are where I want to start, and I have confidence that I can pull it off. It's reassuring to me that there are some spectacular MOCs out there that are primarily ...

Re: What were your first Castle sets

And now for something completely different (The Larch): I read so often things like "I still got all the parts", and I wonder: Yeah, why would you not? How does one lose Lego? Three causes that led to my lost Lego are: 1. Moving to various houses while growing up. 2. Holes in the floors o...

Re: Planning tips.

OCD kicked in, been thinking about LEGO all the time lately. I even had a dream where I witnessed an elaborate LEGO castle build itself while I watched, layer-by-layer, landscape scenery included. The image dissolved within seconds of waking though :? But I've come up with a few more questions for y...

Hi. I'm Pale Dim... um, admins, you can close that account if you think you should. I probably won't be using it again.

And thanks again for the welcomes, everyone.

Re: What were your first Castle sets

http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6074.html I can't remember exactly when this set was given to me, and for what occasion, but I would have been five or six because it was the original 1986 version. What I do remember is that I never successfully constructed the set from the instructions. ...

Re: Planning tips.

So I challenged myself to build something with no basic bricks or plates. Here is the result: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktales/misccastle/thumb/castlemisc1501.jpg_thumb.jpg But when you open it up , you can see that it's all non-standard bricks: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/brickta...

Re: Planning tips.

I never played... even as a little kid, it was all about the conception and build. Watching other kids eye my sets with the intent of playing in their eyes filled me with fear :?

Re: Planning tips.

Thanks for the tips, they are all useful. Just curious though, what's the most you guys have spent on a single MOC?

Also, about LDD, are there no Castle-specific parts? I'm trying to find things like arches and tall slopes, but I'm not having any luck.
