Re: BrickFair VA 2015 Castle Thread
Other than that, everything is like previous years, with last year's center design for the vendors (and corresponding easy browsing for the Yard Sale). I can't release the temporary map to you yet, but almost nothing is currently labeled and so it wouldn't help much anyway. We're still waiting on d...

Re: CCCXII - Serf's Up - A Forestman's farm scene.
I love the well and the fences. What could be improved is the road section, with more irregularity, perhaps showing a bit more where it goes, and the landscaping around the gardens. Also, the base looks blocky and inorganic. I hope that does not sound too harsh. Cheers. No problem, I actually prefe...

CCCXII - Serf's Up - A Forestman's farm scene.
After years of talking about it, I've finally actually built an entry for the Colossal Castle Contest, in the Medieval Husbandry category. Being both my first "real" Castle build in years, and my first go at the contest, I'm interested in some feedback - I feel like I may be a little rusty...

Re: LEGO Blogging
4.5) How often do you blog? Once a day. Right now, and that seems to work being summer and all. The places that I visit to find mosaics have tons of content, so I can always go backwards and find older ones too. Works well for me. You might want to loosen that up to avoid driving yourself in...

Re: Landscaped WITC display
Thanks for sharing pics. I've been trying to collect enough of those duplo tree pieces to use for a while, so it is good to see them on display! Also like the 6066 tribute hiding in there. I'm surprised that we haven't seen more people try to use DUPLO trees. I really liked the effect of having one...

Re: LEGO Blogging
Thanks Andrew. That link-juice stuff is actually pretty fascinating, and I'd never thought about it before. In my experience, it's actually better not to think about it. Periodically, Google will tweak their algorithm a bit to try to keep SEO junkies at bay. Links, contests, giveaways, and other su...

Re: LEGO Blogging
Katie, I didn't respond to your question on advertising. I mostly got the word out on my blogs via involvement in forums like this. I seem to recall that Technorati tags were an option when Bruce and I were starting out. I'm not sure how much that helped, but I miss being able to get decent results...

Landscaped WITC display
Built this last year and never really shared it with the Castle community. Featured in the Raleigh LEGO Store's Window Into the Community in November 2009, this is my tribute to some classic Castle kits from over the years - a few of which appear here in some form. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/252...

Re: LEGO Blogging
(just joined Classic-Castle to join in here...) As a quick sidenote - I'll be hosting a roundtable-style discussion on exactly this topic at BrickFair this year. I'll cover a few FAQs about blogging there before opening it up to a discussion like this one (but perhaps more open-ended). I'm currently...
