Re: 10305 Lion Knight's castle.
I started building on the weekend, doing 5 bags on each day and I still have another 4 left to complete the first part of the castle. The design work is truly beautiful - the way certain sections pop together is almost magical and the interiors have been pretty good too so far. I'm a little bit unde...

Re: 71040 Disney Castle
I guess it's nice enough if you're into fairytale castles but I can't help wished they'd made a 4000 piece medieval style castle - now that would be awesome (probably wouldn't sell so well, I guess).

Re: Your Favorite Castle Set Ever!
I love: http://brickset.com/sets/7037-1/Tower-Raid The Tower is fairly ordinary but the siege tower looks utterly imposing IMO and also works well attacking a bigger castle. Also I love the box design which is one of my all time favourites and really makes the set pop. I have the MMV but to be hones...

Re: Battle of the Castle Sets: 7187 vs 70402
So, I think it depends on what you rate higher: figures or parts. 7187 wins clearly for figures, but 70402 wins for parts. What he said. The Dragon Knight in particular in 7187 is spectacular, but if you're looking to build castle MOCs then 70402 hands down. Even with the default builds, I think 70...

Re: LEGO Minifigures Series 13
I was thinking more the Squid-guy from Jabba's Palace in Star Wars with the Alien Trooper. I can see myself buying a few of these - Goblin, Evil Wizard, Sheriff, Samurai, Egyptian Warrior and the King are all possibles (although I suspect the king's hair will be attached to his crown, which will mea...

Re: LEGO Lord of the Rings overview
The first wave of sets was good and covered a lot of bases - the entire Fellowship (albeit spread across a lot of sets), a decent orc army builder, a nice castle-like big set, some fantastic minifigs and new accessories...but they lost their way with the second wave. If you asked a fan what they wan...

Re: New Lego castle-building book incoming...
My copy arrived earlier this week so here's my mini-review: * This is definitely an AFOL book - most of the builds are way too complicated for younger builders. * Most of the 400 pages are taken up with step by step instructions for building the photographed MOCs. Personally my preference would be f...

Not much more info yet but at 400 pages it certainly looks promising!

Re: CC Set Review: 9474 - The Battle of Helm's Deep
I think this is certainly one of the more interesting Lego castles out there - it certainly uses a fair few advanced building techniques and the absence of a lot of big panel pieces is appreciated (save for the rear feast hall, that is). The castle walls are woefully short of defenders but I guess t...

Re: CC Set Review: 10237 - Tower of Orthanc
This was a really fun build and looks great on my desktop. A few more figures for the massive price tag would have been welcome but I guess if you count the Ent and the Eagle you're looking at seven which isn't too bad. The build is never dull and the interiors are very well laid out - I love the li...

I'll grab a wizard and the goddess - the swashbuckler looks a bit too specific to make a good generic castle character to me but I guess the torso could be useful...

The third hobbit line has been confirmed at (recent) toy shows. We know there is a third hobbit line. It's the LOTR that we are unsure about. It's possible only 2 LOTOR waves were planned to build hype/fill in the gap between the 2 Hobbit movies initially planned before Peter Jackson made the "...

Re: What official sets do you build as an advanced FOL?
Kingdoms Joust was probably my favourite offical set build, and Arkham Asylum Breakout was also pretty good. I will have Orthanc to build over the Xmas holidays which should be fun.
We have an MMV but I foolishly gave it to my wife so she got to build that one...

Re: Lego Desolation of Smaug sets!
I got all the sets save Laketown chase. I really like the Dol Guldur sets a lot but the Mirkwood elf set is rather poor. The Elf King is a nice figure, the shield are ok and a brown warg is good to have, but the elves have a so so torso and identikit faces and the build itself produced nothing worth...
