Well he did say it was 'immensely popular' even at that time.we had no idea Minecraft would explode to become the massive game it is today.

Re: The Buried Barrel Tavern
Excellent work on the rocks, perfect staircase, inspired use of daggers on the doors, and enough accessories to look detailed but stopping just short of having so many as to be overwhelming. Really nothing to criticise. What's the idea behind this - a tavern in a cave? And is the cup on the floor wi...

Re: CC Set Review: 79006 - The Council of Elrond
Sorry for going off-topic here, but I'd like to address this: Builders could reproduce the hilarious moment when Gimli was so dumb he thought he could destroy the one ring with his axe. Let's all laugh at the short guy, because, you know, the only point of Gimli is comic relief. I don't think that b...

Re: Do You Use Megabloks in Lego Creations?
There are a LOT of very old faces in this thread's pages. Dizzying to think how long most of them have been inactive.

Re: this is just plain ridiculous
I think whoever was responsible for the packaging images was just having some 'wink to the adults' fun. Or they were extremely careless. I agree the Fright Knights theme was a ridiculous mess, and it's not so difficult to figure out why Castle effectively vanished for seven years thereafter. What is...

Re: LOTR and the hobbit lego
As far as appealing to children goes, I think Lord of the Rings does lack the 'playful' feel that Harry Potter and Star Wars have, with all their wacky creatures, wands/lightsabers, magic/lasers, etc. And Tolkien's stories are generally quite grim and downbeat in tone. Given the scale and detail of ...

The state of the licensed lines
I've been in something of a forced dark age for the last few years and haven't paid much attention to developments in the Lego world. The recently announced Lord of the Rings line has got me wondering - what exactly happened to Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spongebob Squarepants, Prince o...

Re: LOTR and the hobbit lego
Plus the SW line has shown that collectors will be happy to pick up fairly obscure characters. Fatty Bolger, anyone? How about Gildor Inglorion? Farmer Maggot? The Gaffer? Rosie? Rosie aside, none of those characters made it to the movies, upon which the line's based. I can't see Lego going that ob...

Re: LOTR and the hobbit lego
I think there's a difficulty in that the sets must avoid excessively overlapping with each other, yet quite often in Lord of the Rings each stage or 'situation' in the story features the same cast with the only change being the location and scenario. I don't really think that's such an issue. As yo...

Re: LOTR and the hobbit lego
As was pointed out to me by the stand guide dressed as Gandalf, you need to buy every set to get the whole Fellowship but I suspect many of us can't wait for the day when we can! Is anyone else glad to hear this? Other licensed themes have tended to feature the main characters in almost every set, ...

Re: LOTR and the hobbit lego
While the gladius is a cool sword, it doesn't make any sense to me why Legolas would carry it. The movies feature a distinct style of elven blade. Ideally there would be a new mold for this piece, but I guess that's not going to happen. Still, elves is evles . :) I don't think it's meant to be an E...

Re: The better parts of KK2
I was one of very few on here who defended this line at the time of its release. Clearly little has changed, and in recent years it seems to have even become somewhat traditional for 'real' fans to dismiss the line, so I won't descend into another debate on the matter. Personally I liked it for what...

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?
Is it right to call it a decline, or was it just a progression? Lego Castle began in the late 70s, and since then the line has changed just as the world around it has changed. It's clear that the 90s sets began the shift in focus from 'models' to 'playsets', and whilst I do like a lot of sets from t...

It's been just about five years since the very day of that story...footsteps wrote:*Who here remembers Bill Swanberg? My order from him arrived the same day he was arrested.
