Just noticed while I was checking my points that my character name is unlisted.

I'm starting from scratch, so I can build from the ground up. The plan is for pike units of 20 men each to form the battle line, each troop covering a frontage of 10 men to provide a little extra strength and depth. Archers will be in groups of 16, split 8 & 8 between archers and shield-carriers...

Interesting. I may toy with my own system that uses something like yours at a strategic level, allowing for small skirms with figs. I've done some experimenting with Lego wargame rules before, but in the modern arena, and they would be too complex for a medieval battle.
