Re: Building a 6080 King's Castle from spare parts

Glad you finally finished this project and your son can enjoy it so much. :D Any plans for the next project? Thanks! No plans for a next project (although I covered some ideas in a blog post in September http://questforbricks.wordpress.com/2013/09/10/achievement-unlocked/). I have recently mostly b...

Re: Building a 6080 King's Castle from spare parts

Hi guys! One more note on this project, in case someone is interested. This Christmas my son finally received the castle and we had a blast building it! In the end it wasn't too hard, nor was it too old - in fact, the different build and the different style of the old knights were quite appreciated ...

Re: Building a 6080 King's Castle from spare parts

Thanks, Aeridian! :) Indeed normally there wouldn't be anything special about the 6080 King's Castle (other than a very special set!), but I kind of took the long route...

Re: LEGOLAND Billund

It has been fun reliving my visits to LEGOLAND Billund on the Internet. It really is a magical place. I know there is a current discussion on how the new handlers are evolving the park(s) and if the direction is good, but I must say so far I personally - and my family too - have enjoyed LEGOLAND Bil...

Re: Building a 6080 King's Castle from spare parts

One more update to this thread, I finally managed to complete the castle! :) In the end I was missing only 20+ bricks that I got around to acquiring recently and putting on those finishing touches. For a few pics see here: http://questforbricks.wordpress.com/2013/08/25/castle-stands-down/ Earlier st...

Re: Castle and Tolkien sets for 2013

We recently acquired three sets from the new LEGO Castle theme, a couple from Billund in July and one when the theme came on sale in Finland in early August. Forest Ambush is the smallest set in the range and the least favorite of mine, of the three we have. There is nothing really wrong with this s...

Re: LEGOLAND Billund

I have been going through my photos of this summer's visit to LEGOLAND Billund, I thought they might interest some here. One really cool attraction at LEGOLAND Billund is a very classic one, a panoramic tower/elevator that gives you a 360-degree view of the park and its surroundings. This is a very ...

Re: LEGOLAND Billund

Just a quick heads up, I had another chance to visit LEGO's home town of Billund (and the amusement park) this summer. Some pictures of Billund through here:

I will be updating more on the matter over the coming days and weeks.

Re: Building a 6080 King's Castle from spare parts

Thank you for the patience, all who have followed by struggles on this one. I got around back to this project this weekend and although I'm still missing a few pieces, I got surprisingly far. Basically I'm missing some details, but I got most of the castle built. It feels a bit surreal to finally se...

Re: LEGOLAND Billund

Thanks guys for the feedback. I appreciate it. :) I finally got my few photos and notes from the main shop as well as the discount outlet store at LEGOLAND Billund online: http://questforbricks.wordpress.com/2012/08/11/lego-shop-billund/ and http://questforbricks.wordpress.com/2012/08/10/legoland-ou...

Re: News: Death of the Classic Horse

Hi guys, I posed my LEGO horse generations from 1978 to 2012 side by side, if you want to check it out. :) http://questforcastle.wordpress.com/2012/07/02/horse-portrait/ It does strike me how small the new horse and the minifigure sitting on it seem compared to the old ones. A nice comparison; Than...

LEGOLAND Billund

So, I went to *the* Legoland this summer - previous time was back in the 1980s. :) Couldn't find an existing thread for this, so I started one. I must say it is a fun, fun place still - expanded quite a bit, but the core areas have stayed true to the original experience. There were some fabulous cas...

Re: Building a 6080 King's Castle from spare parts

Thank you for the encouragement, rogue27!

6066 Camouflaged Outpost sounds cool, I can really appreciate that as my last bigger LEGO set (back in 1988) before the dark ages was the 6054 Forestmen's Hideout. :)
