Re: Collectible Figs series 8 revealed

I am liking the Conquistador and the Shakespearian Thesp, especially his Ruff. They'll give some of my mocs an Elizabethan feel. Managed to bag those two figures with a bit of deft bag handling. The alien queen also will be used for an evil sourceress with a small head change and the creation of a s...

Re: Series 7.... It's a Boar! (and other castle parts)

I've managed to pick up four Boar Knights so far, and I've changed some of the heads and one or two of the helmets. (The Black Samurai helmets look good on them.) and now they are the loyal soldiers of my Evil Queen Faction.

Re: Kingdoms Chess!!!

I would have thought the wizard would make a far better "bishop" figure and Lego created a new King and Queen. The Queen could be done like the Evil Queen from a previous chess set, exept a normal yellow head rather than a skull and wearing the Dragon's breastplate. Mind you , do the Dragon...

Re: Greatest Medieval Civilization?

500 AD to 1500AD in the UK would certainly cover a vast swath of British medieval History and bring into its boarders the Early Anglo Saxon Cultures (If like me ,your take on the legends of King Arthur are referrences to a Romano- British organised resistance against Saxon invasions, then then that ...

Re: Greatest Medieval Civilization?

Mind you, I have a thought going back to the original concept of this debate. What exactly are the criteria of classing a civilization as medieval? I mean in the UK the general concensus is that it starts in the year 1066 with the Norman Invasion of England and ends with the death of Queen Elizabeth...

Re: LEGO Theme Survey

Leading from a kind of Crusaders/middle east/ pirates cross theme - what about a range based on the legends of Sinbad the Sailor? You could have the theme of Sinbad and his daring crew out to seek treasure and up against an evil sultan/ sourcerer. You could have an impulse set of Sindad on a raft af...

Re: Greatest Medieval Civilization?

I did hear that the Spanish were aided by lots of local tribes against the Aztecs, who obviously had a few axes to grind! What has always astonished me is how a band of gold seeking adventures who would have endured months of the rigours of sea travel (scury, poor supply chain) and on alien soil tho...

Re: Greatest Medieval Civilization?

Its an interesting comparrison to compare the European medieval civilizations to the oriental/ Asian civilizations. Obviously each had their technological and cultural advances and, for want of a better word, set backs. Casting further afield I wonder how Aztec/Olmec/Inca cultures would compare agai...

Re: LEGO Theme Survey

I definately think that a lego mythical range from the legends of classical Greece would be fantastic. Here are some ideas. Small - range sets:- Hercules against one of his 12 labours, fighting say a harpy mini fig. Atalanta (a female mythical)against the giant boar, with a tree set (similar to the ...

Re: Minifigures Series 7

I managed to het hold of so far- 2 Aztec warriors, 2 Evil knights, "Red riding"hood, Space Marine, King Neptune, and the Viking queen. The great thing about these figures is if you see a bulging bag, chances are its either the Aztec, Space Marine or Neptune. The Aztec figure and Space Mari...

Re: Greatest Medieval Civilization?

What about the Middle eastern/Far Eastern civilizations? China was by far more technologically advanced than the west during the early middle ages, Europe only began to slowly eclipse China in terms of technology and scientific development by the late 16th Century. Even the Mongol invasion of China ...

Re: What's your castle lego collection look like?

Ive only recently began to get into the castle concept and initially it was inspired by the lego Elf and Dwarf Minifigs from the minifig sets, but I found myself loving rediscovering my love for Lego. These are the sets I have treated myself so far I have so far:- Escape from Dragon Prison Troll Mou...

That is an excellent idea. I Havn't any ostriches at present but may now purchase a few. (My Troll Faction will be licking their lips at the size of those drumsticks!) Just thinking what other lego accessories/items like that which I have that could be put to such use.

Re: Alternate building instructions

Its a shame Lego no longer place alternative build images on the back of their packaging like they used to back in the 80's and 90's. Half the fun was trying to recreate the alternate models without instructions. Always felt I had to make the alternative models before may my own MOCS.
