I think you left off the best of the current crop of KK castles, 8877 Vladek's Dark Fortress. There just seems more that you can do with it than the "good guys" trio of castles.

The king....pushing a cart? Well, okay, he seems have some weapons handy, so it's probably some ill-gotten booty from a chevauchee . More useless crowns to someone like me, but to a kid, maybe it's a cheap way to get a king. I do like the rest of the fig though, and I usually turn my surfeit...

Alas that my son is now past the age on interest in Legoland (but we went there several times when he was younger). Just roam around and enjoy the place. It isn't huge, so you should be able to see everything - the rides are aimed more for younger kids, but everyone will probably enjoy the wetter on...

Well, I was about to whine about being on vacation also, but thank you for the link, Sir Rupid. Probably as close as we are gonna get to a minifig pack, so I'm happy for it. Thankfully the pawns have axes and spears, and only the bishops have the awful KK2 swords. Needs more shields, but at least th...

Am I supposed to be rating the set or the review of the set? :D All I have to say is Vikings: good. No shields: Bad (I do not count the radar dishes as shields). Big siege engine: 1) as action toy, kewl. 20 As something I would be interested in, nope. Just give me the minifig pack, LEGO! Your compet...

I like the 2nd fleur-de-lis surcoat the best.

I've always meant to make some musketeers, though they would be entirely too early to match with the more Napoleonic-looking Imperial guards/soldiers.

Dang, that mail pattern just keeps popping up.

Black? Gray? Silver?

Will the TwoTonic Avatar shed his Viking visage at last?

This thread has resurfaced? I think the winner (or loser, depending on your viewpoint), was "Jellybean Knights". Not to say other names haven't been used continuously, but the most common one I see is Jellybean.

One of the all time worst full-size Castles LEGO has designed. Didn't buy it. Didn't buy it even on deep discount. Don't regret it. Jellybean knights just to make the whole thing more unpalatable.

Lego has and always will make sets based on the 'romanticiced' view of history (pirate captain with pegleg and eye patch holding a parrot anyone?). They simply want thier product to be recognised by children as 'vikings'. You seem to think that they are simply fueling a stereotype when all TLG care...

I don't think the set -suffers- because of the armour. But rather to anyone (or perhaps almost anyone) with an interest in actual history, the plate armour showing up in a set with the title 'Vikings' on it can seem jarring. Personally, I'd prefer a lack of armour, just to be more Viking-ish. Ya kn...

I like the Prometheus in general, except for the choice of using the log pieces. Richie's ship is great, as his usually are. The Sunday night showing of the 2nd Pirates movie was packed at the El Capitain theatre in Hollywood (that's the Disney-owned premiere theatre for you non-SoCal people). Lotsa...

Can't say I care for this set. I don't care for the wolf at all, and that's a major part of the set. The fig has the silly helmet and the awful sword. The plate armor just looks horribly out of place, so much so that it puts me off rather than attracts me as a useful part (which it is). No shield, w...

Oops, you're right. I actually never saw Lost in Space and somehow thought these were the same robot, since Robby shows up every once in a while in old sci-fi (see his filmography on Wikipedia - hey! I remember him on Ark 2!). Bruce Robbie has appeared in a number of places (including an epi...

Edit in: Oh hey, I was right, too! Read the heading for that photo.

Edit in II: Oh hey, my son saw Forbidden Planet today during summer school even as I typed the above! Cosmic.....
