"Guardians of the Gray Castles" (Black Falcons)
So, out of curiosity, I was checking around through my old catalogs and boxes to check out backstories and whatnot. Oddly enough, it looks like Lego didn't seem to have a name for the Crusader or Black Falcon factions (at least not in 1989): "The Battle for LEGOLAND Castle" Forestmen, Blac...

LEGOLAND castle sets had brief descriptions in the catalogs but not on boxes. Boxes usually said something about making alternate sets, using your own creativity, etc. Some sets had a few tidbits about the subtheme on the boxes, but I'm not sure about Castle sets in particular. I know I recently lo...

Re: Knight's Kingdom 2
Wow! I had NO idea the previous classic castle lines had that much backstory! Where was all this information distributed? Or, am I just not connecting enough dots? I think KK2 has the most published backstory of any of the castle sets to date... The only info I know about KK1 came from (IIRC) a S@H...

So, I was looking at the backstory last night as well-- I found it odd that Vladek was once the king's top advisor, considering that I remember reading somewhere that Cederick (the leader of the Bulls) was similarly King Leo's most trusted knight in the original KK. I guess they just like to reuse t...

If I'm not mistaken, the first such acronym to be coined was 'BURP' (Big Ugly Rock Piece), back on RTL. At the time, the feeling on BURPs was that they were awful things, that should be made out of bricks, not a single piece-- so the durogotory term stuck, and instantly everyone was calling them 'BU...

Can't stand those 1xNx5's. I'll use them when I have to, when I'm running low on a particular color, or as filler for something that's not seen inside a MOC, but rarely (if ever) do I use them otherwise. Personally, in addition to wanting to use multiple 1xN's instead of 1xNx5's (for added versatili...

I remember seeing King Leo's castle in the store for the 1st time in 2000. Couldn't wait to get it home and build it. When I got home, I opened it, poured the pieces out onto the floor, and just stared at them. I felt like crying. It was just so sad... TONS of 1x2x5 and 1x1x5 bricks, a big POOP arch...

Those stupid cards.
So. Am I the only one who secretly actually thinks the new cards are kinda neat, but outwardly has to admit that they're childish and useless? Anyway, I'm ashamedly interested in owning a "complete set", however it seems that there's a vast array of missing cards. I've got numbers as low a...
