Re: CC Set Review: 8822 Gargoyle Bridge

Friskywhiskers really hit it spot on. This set is definitely a prime example of how Castle was failing at being an imaginative and engaging theme. You've got lots of big pieces, a boring, rigid design. The ramp alone is just sad. :( Compare it to the 7079 Drawbridge Defense which has so much life i...

Re: CC Set Review: 6095 Royal Joust

The mashup of colors makes this a very ugly set and the rather uninspired overall design doesn't help. But it was a cheap way to get the full barding, and it included actual horses, unlike the gawdawful 8779 Grand Tournament.

Re: CC Set Review: 1712 Crossbow Cart

This is an OK set, but I generally don't like the single-minifig siege weapons that have appeared in various themes. If you're short on weapons, this set will certainly get you started, but I don't see the minifig being a particularly inspiring army builder.

Re: CC Set Review: 6008 Royal King

I agree with Elephant Knight. Not the gretest set, far from the worst, more than adequate for it's size. Rather than talk about what it doesn't have, I think a better standard is to compare it to similar sets. With that in mind, I prefer 6008 Royal King to the 6007 Bat Lord, but neither can compare ...

Re: Jelly Bean Knights

I don't hate them at all, but I realize I am in the minority. And I should say I bought most of these sets on closeout ( like the 8877 for $25). Of course, I don't think they're an especially great faction, but have a few tricks I use to keep them in the rotation of my MOCs population: 1) More knigh...

Re: What's your castle lego collection look like?

Ben, thanks for the links! I've been trying to put a set number to set 15 for years now! :D when I was a kid, my best friend and I each got a pair of set 15 ( http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/0015.html ). Ours came bagged, with no box or instructions from Lego Shop@Home. I am certain the ...

Re: What's your castle lego collection look like?

from Scott897's original list: It'll be easier to list what I DO NOT have: Prisoner Convoy Black Knight's Treasure Maiden's Cart (need instructions to really "have" it) The sets you don't have are among the hardest sets to find from that era I think. You are correct. I really want that Bl...

Re: How many Kingdoms minifigs do you have?

I'm not sure, as I almost always buy torsos, helmets, etc. separately and integrate them in whichever way I feel is necessary, but I believe I could probably field anywhere from 2 - 400 figures at full mobilization if the threat of war became that severe. I have not taken pictures of much of...

Lego Alarm Clocks

This thread is about the oversized minifigure alarm clocks, not the brick shaped or buildable clocks. Last year I found a few of the Star Wars clocks on clearance and thought they were pretty cool. I was able to get Yoda, Darth Vader, and Anakin Skywalker, passed on the Stormtrooper. I guess I wasn'...

I agree with several others' statements, the darkness adds to the pic. Sets the mood as much as the minifig's expression. Really great work.

That's much more detailed than what I was building at 10 years old. Great work.
