Re: Heavily modified 7947 Prison Rescue Tower

Nice work. Simple yet newly inspired. Good job.

I also agree that we need some figs in ACTION to spice it up next time! :)

Re: Weekly Set Review: Forestmen's River Fortress

I never bought any of the later forestmen sets b/c 1) I was into other toys around the same time like Ninja Turtles, Dino-Riders, Micro Machines, etc, 2) LEGOs were still relatively expensive for a young child with no job, or perhaps 3) b/c even as a child I thought this design was simply a larger r...

Re: Wolfpack

I loved reading all of these interpretations of the Wolfpack and see where many of these interps naturally overlap just as the great fictional characters of folklore experience different retcons and reinterpretations. As I sought to remember what my own WP interpretation was as a child, I realized t...

Re: Dwarf Battle Pack

I disagree on the "cool factor" because back in the day, we HAD BATTLE PACKS only they weren't called such. Hello? Does anyone remember the boxes of 5-6 minifigures throughout the 80s and 90s?? This was how I stocked up on space men troops and pirates and occasional castle figs. And guess...

Re: Dwarf Battle Pack

There is a labor factor to have each figure assembled and placed into the blister pack. If the fig piece were bagged and/or boxed, the Battle Pack sets likely would cost less. Of course they wouldn't look as cool as the LEGO Brand Stores. Edit: If it has not been mentioned, the packs are now availa...

Re:

Hee hee, I just found a whole shelf unit of VDF's at a one-day sale at Goodwill on Saturday. I grabbed as many as would fit in my car. For $22, I think Vladek's Dark Fortress is a very fine set indeed.  :twitch: :twitch: Incredible story! That is a rarity indeed that few could ever t...

Re:

Well, this set seems to have been SLIGHTLY better designed than similarly sized Fright Knight sets of the same era, but the fact that it has Willa, and not a soldier, really wrecks any reason for me to get this set. Parts: 5/10 Playability: 4.5/10 Figs/Accessories: 3/10 (an all-time low...) Design ...

Re: 7953 Jester and 7955 Wizard - Kingdoms Set Reviews

I've yet to open either of these but I bought them both when I purchased the King's Castle. [Lol, it was a situation where my wife wanted to get me a nice graduation present, and I talked her into purchasing the two cheapies with the castle :eyebrows: ] I agree with the statement that separate minif...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Wolfpack Renegades

I went scouring through bricklink and I stand corrected on the Pirates/crossbow comment. It's funny how the mind "remembers" things from way back. Bummer. That was not the answer for which I was hoping. However, I was referring to the 1989 Pirates series (not the sequel years) but ...

Re:

All I have to say about this set is that it's from the LEGOLAND era - during the golden ages of Castle! Remember the yellow flip-top boxes, with many alternate model scenes? :( At least the minifigs look realistic. :) "Flip-boxes", gold-colored Castle boxes...wow, I just had a nostalgia b...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Wolfpack Renegades

It's a top-notch [traveling] armory, and one of the first castle sets to include the crossbow. In addition to the crossbow [originating from the Pirates line], the WP figs bore faces from the Pirates line as well, parlaying castle away from the mono-yellow smiley faces. I might be reading this inco...

Re: Dragon Knights Battle Pack = SOLD OUT

They may not know too far in advance what's going to be on the truck, the computers likely know the 2 or 3 but anything beyond that is likely speculation. Now they DO seem to usually know if somethings backordered (or are able to look it up). If you are able you may wish to place a order with S@H f...
