Re: The LEGO MOvie - I've seen it

Did anyone else catch the throwaway references to "macaroni bricks" and "cheese slopes" in the construction scene early in the movie? I thought that was a nice little nod to the fans.

Re: Roman or Greek line of lego

If I were designing the line, I'd tweak the mythology and make it so that the famous heroes were all part of a team, a la Monster Fighters. We could have Odysseus as the leader, Heracles as the muscle, Daedalus as the brains/gadgeteer, Perseus with his winged sandals as the specialist fighter, and A...

Re: Roman or Greek line of lego

I think younger kids could get into a mythology-based line. The monsters would probably be a draw all on their own. By playing fast and loose with the original stories to add more vehicles and contraptions, the appeal could be increased even more.

Re: Roman or Greek line of lego

That's a very good idea, though I don't think they'd get away with the whole gods/goddesses thing. You don't think my re-naming scheme would work? The idea of heroes could mean we get some awesome new figures and monsters! I was going to say maybe they could do a Percy Jackson license and mix Greek...

Re: Roman or Greek line of lego

I think LEGO could get mileage out of both an ancient Greece and a Roman Empire theme. The former could focus on mythology--heroes fighting monsters. Including actual gods and goddesses might be tricky, but they could probably get away with it if they didn't use the word "god" and substitu...

Re: Your dream castle line

There is one problem with a 'peaceful' castle theme, and that is to do with the children the sets are meant to be aimed at. I honestly don't know many kids (boys especially) who would be able to play with a 'peaceful' set for a long time. Whatever caused this (computer games?!), children would rath...

Re: Your dream castle line

Throwing in another vote for a peasant village-based series. If TLG is worried about making it look exciting to kids, they can make sure each set includes at least one soldier--either a "good guy" patronizing the shop or a "bad guy" attacking/robbing it. MMV had the former and th...

Fantastic tribute to a terrific movie! Is that Oaken's sauna I see at the base of the mountain?

Re: How long do you keep your MOCS

I usually leave them up about a month. I display them on top of my entertainment center, across from the couch where I spend most of my time at home (I live in a small apartment), and by the time a month passes I'm usually getting bored with the view! Sometimes I'll leave them up longer if I'm looki...

Selling Minifigs from LotR Set #79008-1

Hey all, I got the LotR Pirate Ship Ambush set as part of my Christmas haul. It's a fun set to build and I'm happy to break it down for parts, but I don't have any particular interest in LotR, so the minifigs are going up on Bricklink in about 20 minutes. As usual when I sell Castle-related minifigs...
