Re: Updating the CCC Standard - Discussion
Yes, but my point is that regardless of what specific colors and building standards we use there will be a need to level baseplates, etc., and regardless of what techniques we use for leveling baseplates we'll still need some sort of building standards in order to make the MOCs look uniform. Those ...

Once again, it's a long gap between chapters and I can hardly tell you how much busier my life is now than it was when I last posted--but Chapter 15 is up all the same! The folder shouldn't be moderated yet, but here are the individual deeplinks anyway: 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11

Re: Disney Princesses Sets
Considering that they're juggling three different aesthetics here: the original Brave , Disney Princesses as a homogenised group, and LEGO Friends, this set does really well--though I think I'm agreeing with SSchmidt when I say that the end result isn't quite a close to Brave as it could have been. ...

Re: CC Set Review: 6066 Camouflaged Outpost
I am sure it is no longer feasible/cost effective, but that see through pane in the box is sweet. Wish we would see something Iike this again. I was a big fan of the flip-top boxes like that too--it was the mark of buying a "big" set when it came with that. I have to wonder if the real re...

Re: Pleygo- Netflix for Lego
This seems to be the sort of product that is *vastly* more likely to be desired by Mom or Dad than by the kid--especially if Mom or Dad have no real sense of LEGO as parts and a building toy--they just see it as "sets," not as inter-compatible parts fodder. Also, at least if my own childho...

Re: Manaor Castle
This is a really beautiful MOC--enough to draw me out of my Huorn-like (always watching, never speaking) slumber. I think that this is, more or less, exactly what most of us would love to see as the flagship of a Castle line: it's about the right size--and, really, what you've packed into a 32x32 fo...

Re: What do you think about a "chapter 0" or character intro
I think there are two different kinds of prologues: story-prologues and world-prologues (with, of course, prologues that exist somewhere in the middle, but as types I think--particularly in the fantasy world--they can be boiled down to these two). The story-prologue is told as story (showing more th...

Re: Where did all the stories go?
I think part of the thing is that the "way of the Internet" has changed. Back in the days of Ikros and Andrastavia, there were far fewer LEGO websites and (if my memories are accurate) when you when Googling (or whatever one did before Google was everywhere) sites like Ozbricks came up rat...

Re: Castle and Tolkien sets for 2013
Do those who have the new Castle sets want to weigh in on the new bardings? So far I have failed completely to warm to them from the pictures in the box-art--possibly because the poses they're given that utilise the new horse's ability to rear don't "work" in my imagination with the bardin...

Re: A CCer Author
Thanks, guys! If any of you do end up reading it, by all means let me know what your think, or post a review of it. PS. When are you coming down to BrickCon with Gerard? Well, given that I live in New England nowadays, I doubt I'll ever come with the EK, and who knows when I'll make it there cross-c...

Thanks to the fact that my new in-laws all know I like LEGO, I enjoyed a pretty good LEGO haul. 8833 Series 8 (The Football Player) 8833 Series 8 (The DJ) - both new too my collection--the Football player is especially timely 3931 Emma's Splash Pool - my first Friends set 9476 The Orc Forge 30213 [G...

Re: Dear Lego: Please remain involved with Lego fan conventi
Crossposting from what I just wrote on Lugnet: Firstly, as an AFOL who has never lived anywhere near a convention, it's hard to get too disappointed that my inability to attend has been made *slightly* less tragic. Living in Alberta the closest con was/is BrickCon, but while my younger brothers hav...

Oh dear... oh dear...
I *love* that tree shield. LOVE it. I want a 1001 of them--no, I want them all!
(And, for that matter, the fig herself is a nice one--and the knight too.)
