what's in a name?

Post by The Green Knight »

Uh hi. Yeah just a quick question here.

See I'm wondering if it's possible for a guy to change his name.

You know like from green knight to black knight.

I tried once but it didn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you mean your username, then no - there isn't. If you really do want it changed, then your best bet is to kindly email or PM an Admin, who might do it. Maybe.

As far as I know, admins can not change your user name. You would have to register again with the new name and then we would have to delete the old account. If you have any further questions about this, you can pm me.

Ok, thanks guys. It's no big deal or any thing, just something I thought we were able to do.

Besides, the black knight may not care about getting his limbs chopped off but the green knight can re-attach his.

Just out of curiosity, if one wanted to make a new account with a new username, could an admin make their post-count equal to what it was on the old account ("could" not as in can-you-physically, but would-you-do-it?)

P.S. Don't worry Freak...I'm gonna be "Smitty" for a while :D

Names *CAN* be changes.

Note that this does not mean that names *WILL* be changed.

Also, post counts cannot be moved from user to user. If you create a new ID, you are back to being a Gong Farmer.

I thought that somewhere an admin said (probably in "CC Titles") that if you post a lot to raise your count, they'd just lower it. I was thinking then that that meant that technically someone could make a new account, and then an admin could raise their post count to where it was. Or something like that. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Please do not confuse what can "technically" be done with what can be routinely implemented. Technically *I* can edit anything, by accessing the database directly.

This is not a pleasurable thing to do though, and thus will not be done to appease users that want to change their name. If you want to change your username, I do NOT suggest making a new account. This is likely to cause problems.

Instead, try bribing someone to change it for you. This may work. :-D
