This is to the best of my knowledge, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

This week(end) for people across the US and the Globe is Mardi Gras. It originally celebrated the lead up Ash Wednesday of the Catholic faith, on which Catholics would show their devotion by sacrificing something for the season of Lent.

Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, was reserved by the people as a day of excess, to get all your partying out of you so that you could go into Lent without as much temptation (and repent :)).

However, it is now just become an excuse to party for anyone, and being Catholic is not required. Mardi Gras is traditionally celebrated by parades and the throwing and collecting of beads, and it's colors are purple, green and gold.

I'd forgotten about "giving something up for Lent." Though what that has to do with Mardi Gras I have no idea. Everyone spontaneously gives up beads and gives them to someone else, who in turn gives up the same beads....ahhhhhh, mathoms. :D

Okay, can we give up pink and purple Barbie colors for Lent?

Thanks to specify it was "Mardi Gras". I was asking the same question: What party ?

I'm catholic, and I didn't know that... I even didn't know what was Mardi Gras. I didn't expect to learn that from a Lego fan ! :D

By the way, it's also carnaval time here, in Quebec.
