Problem with registering
Hi,
a friend of mine - Username Jake, of the Palace Guard - is trying to register since weeks. He tried it several times, but never got the activation email. He even emailed some admins here but didn't get a response yet.
Do you know what he could do else for finally being able to become a member here?
thanks
Andi

No, he uses an email address from a not-free-email account from his old school. He is a long member from fbtbforums, and there you can't use any email accounts like hotmail etc.TheOrk wrote:Does he have a hotmail account? That might be it because it happened to me once.

If he's been sending mail to my C-C email address, then that would explain why he's received no response. Troy hasn't gotten around to re-activating my email account after the server died.
I'll private message you with an email address at which he can contact me directly.

In order to remove the large number of recent spammers, we did a "fall cleaning" of the userlist that removed all members who never completed registration through the confirmation email. Please register again with your old username and try adding a different email address (and do not use hotmail.com) If you still have problems, please send Tony or Troy a pm. Thank you.

Far too many spammers attacking this site use hotmail accounts. By not allowing them, we significantly cut back on spam. Plus, hotmail has a poor interface. It was great 8 years ago but not now. I suggest using gmail or some other improved email.kelderic wrote:Why can we not use hotmail? I have had to start up a new account at yahoo just to register here.

Ah, I had just looked at the ammount of members and saw that SillyBilly, the newest member, was member number nine-hundred, it confused me for a bit because I remember the one-thousandth member topic. I figured you must have cleaned out a few members. (That must have been quite a chunk of work to get rid of over one-hundred members )architect wrote:In order to remove the large number of recent spammers, we did a "fall cleaning" of the userlist that removed all members who never completed registration through the confirmation email.
Yes, we had the same problem over at MCN with spamming members and Hotmail accounts, now ever since the Admins banned them there seems to be quite a decrease in spammers.architect wrote: Far too many spammers attacking this site use hotmail accounts. There is also an issue with how our DNS resolves (or doesn't resolve) that causes some e-mail servers to reject all messages from CC as spam. I am working on getting this fixed.

It is not possible. Having more than one email address is a positive thing.kelderic wrote: Is is possible to let registered users switch to hotmail, but not let new members, "spamers", join using it?
