CCCIV Custom fraud

Post by Lamanda2 »

Hello,
First off I am sorry if this is not in the correct forum, but I wasn't sure where to place it.
I was just over at MCN and was PMed by a member who found this on Brickshelf to bring it to my attention:
Link
The custom is actually one of mine, not sure why they would even try to enter it in CCCIV seeing as it's a Star Wars custom, but whatever..
I see that the custom or the battle in his gallery have not been entered yet, so I still have no idea this guy is, or if he's even a member here, so I had no way of contacting him.
Anyhow, I am not sure what the Admins would want to do with this, wether they just disallow him to enter that figure or disqualify him altogether. (That one would be my choice  )

Wow, they even used your pics... and one with a lightsaber too  . I hope somebody knows who this guy is and that he is both disqualified from CCCIV and banned from CC. I hope this is resolved soon.

Wow.. this is a first for me... I'm suprised they would even try something like this. Not sure what the final action will be, but I have a feeling you have nothing to fear in terms of the contest or what-not.

Wow..

I was looking through his brickshelf folder more carefully and I found Redbean's Athena, Redbean's Apollo, and Redbean's Greek Slavegirls. This looks familiar too. I suggest that everyone look to make sure that none of your figs were stolen.

Hey,

That's just a keychain that you can buy at any LEGO store.

Thanks for bringing the stolen images to our attention, Lamanda2. We'll take care of it.

Well I see no problem with the Athena, etc, minifigs listed there. Looks like a collection of pics the guy found and wanted to do a story or faction for them. He doesn't claim that they're his.

The CCC4 entry is something else all together. I've never heard of the user name, and its a shame they don't give member info.

Most of the pictures in his BS arent his like the castle's and since he never said they were his i guess its ok to show things u like in your BS. But the CCCIV custom is definatly wrong.

I noticed this and it actually gave me an idea. Maybe I could take comics on Bs that do not have dialouge and create my own. I don't think there is anything wrong, but I would try to contact the original builder, or at least put a disclaimer in the description. But to use a great custom of someone elses as your own for a contest, I think this guy is really not right and personally would request his not taking any of my pics even for a story. I hope this is dealt with swiftly!

Copying is one thing. It is wrong, yes, but it makes sense. However, entering the copy into CCCIV is not just wrong, but stupid. C'mon, like no will notice. On the other hand Amanda, imatation is the best form of flattery. The person likes your work.

Wow, you mean he copied the battle too? Come on..

Sure thing, but if it wasn't for Vidgamer838 over at MCN (Stewtrooper here) I wouldn't have even known. Thanks Vid!

True, but I would much rather have had my minifig in his other gallery with Red's stuff than this. :P

I hope he learns from it! And I hope he does not do it again.

This guy has stolen images from all over Brickshelf. You can tell that just from all the different photography styles, and I recognize a couple of my older LOTR figs (Gandalf and Nazgul) in among the rest.

Ironically, "forrest-john" has also stolen from one of Brickshelf's most notorious plagiarists (who shall remain nameless). I find that highly amusing. :D

(Not to plug Flickr two days in a row or go too far off-topic, but this is one more reason why I've switched to Flickr. I can associate a specific license (like copyright) with each image, and I can leave comments directly on the picture when I see someone has copied one of my pictures into their photostream. This has happened a couple of times, and has been corrected quickly and easily -- just by leaving a comment reminding them that re-posting my pictures without attribution violates the license. None of that is possible on Brickshelf.)

Hey, I would kind of find it amusing that your a good enough lego builder that someone likes your things so much that they want to steal it for there own. Although it is displeasing aswell.
