A better laughing emoticon

Post by Danju the Clever »

Can we get a better laughing emoticon?
This one ---> :lol:
Looks like it's somehow flapping its lips...not laughing...

Maybe you should just use it when you're flappin your lips. :P

I'm kidding though, aren't the emoticons a PHPBB standard? If they could be changed it would make sense to use Minifig head's as emoticons. If that WERE possible I would be happy to create an emoticon set for usage here. WITH a more laughy laugh. *Doom flaps his lips.*

They have a similar idea on Eurobricks. (Minifig head emoticons.) If that could work here, it would be a great idea.

I'm not sure if I want fig heads...that might be making it all a bit too Lego-ish. I think the ones we have now are fine.

Last time I checked, this is a LEGO forum...

Really, though, I think we have bigger things to worry about (spammers, flame wars, achieving world peace) then a couple of emotioncons.

Tis better, methinks, to be concerned about the content of one's post rather than how one decorates it.

Otherwise we could decorate it with little pictures like this.

I agree, I could care less about the emoticons. I think the post matters more. Hec, I could care less if they got rid of all graphics.

I would disagree. Some of us, are very graphics orientated. Long gone are the days of text based communication.

I don't think so. After all, how are we communicating right now? Text-based communication will be around for a long time. Emoticons are a fun touch on occasion, but if you rely on them, your posts are rather boring and...dare I say it...annoying.

I, for one, don't think we need any new or revised emoticons.

I would hate it if we got rid of these Emoticons, I just love these guys!
Especially these three goofs-
  :P
(I use that last one as a laughing face, since the other one creeps me out..)

I disagree.
Certainly emoticons do not need to be used in all posts, but there are many times in which their use is entirely appropraite and useful.

For example, adding a ;) to the end of a sarcastic post can mean the difference between a flame and a joke. The goes for the :P.

That's the only place I use emoticons, if I can help it.

While I disagree that new emoticons are a recuirment I do believe that having some are important. As Jake_Snicket said adding a  spares a lot of misunderstandings.
