Is anyone a member of Classic-Space?

Post by Sir Erathor »

Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you are members of the Classic-Space site, which is similar to this, but for sci-fi stuff (duh!). I hope this isn't, er, forbidden territory or something! This is purely out of interest, and I think I've posted in the right forum! If not, please move it, admins :)

Yup I'm a member of Classic-Space. I have the exact same name there as I do here. Are you a member then?

I am a member in that forum, but it is pretty quiet these days. If you are not a member there, I would suggest joining it if you have an interest in Sci-Fi.

It's not what you say it's how you say it.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm considering joining so I can upload any sci-fi stuff I may build :)

Yes, I am a member, but it's not as active as here, it doesn't have a big community. I am also a Spacer as well as a Castler.

I have not yet joined Classic Space, but I occasionally browse their forums. I'll probably join if I ever have something I want to say or show, but I've only recently started noticing LEGO Space again after a 20+ year hiatus during which I sold all of my 80s space stuff. :(

I was under the impression that most of the discussion on Classic-Space had migrated over to Flickr after they had a forum crash (or maybe they were hacked). I'm glad to hear there's still activity there, as I'm a big believer in theme-specific forums. Maybe recent problems on Flickr will send more traffic back towards stand-alone forums.

That isn't far off the mark. People had been slowly moving away from Classic-Space, and when the site was hacked, the rest all jumped of that sinking ship to Flickr. I think it was a year later when I discovered that someone had made a new site, though it has never been as busy as the original one was. I am one of the few people on the current forum who was on the old one.

That's interesting, Bruce, I didn't know that.
I'm thinking of joining the site to post (and get feedback on) any microscale stuff I build.

Oh, so this site has no relation to the previous Classic-Space Forum? Interesting.

Well, it shares the same name, and some of the members, and the new one has an archive for the old one, but other than that, no, not really.
