Christmas loot 2016

Post by Bruce N H »

Hey all,

Were you all good boys and girls this year? Did Santa fill your stockings with LEGO, or just with coal? Let us know what LEGO you got this year.

I rarely get my own LEGO anymore. Instead it's all gifts for the kids. Between us and an aunt who always buys LEGO for them, we got quite a bit around here.

Maddie got all Christmas-y with Santa's Workshop and the Winter Village Toy Shop, and also set 40222 which was a give-away with purchase at the LEGO store (it's essentially an advent calendar without the actual calendar).

Daniel got the Ninjago Airjitzu Training Grounds, and also this Batman set that's been in our closet for a while.

Claire got LEGO as her main gift, with the big Disney Castle set, and also several of the Disney Collectible figs to inhabit it.

The only LEGO I got was from the fig exchange...which was a great fig.

My daughter got the friends roller coaster (from Santa) (http://brickset.com/sets/41130-1/Amusement- ... er-Coaster) and the friend hotdog cart (http://brickset.com/sets/41129-1/Amusement-Park-Hot-Dog-Van) and a lego shirt. My boy got the Spiderman v. Carnage (http://brickset.com/sets/76036-1/Carnage-s- ... Sky-Attack) and the Spiderman v. Sandman (http://brickset.com/sets/76037-1/Rhino-and- ... in-Team-up) sets. I got a 2nd copy of Lego movie (because the kids have worn out the first), a speed champions set, the Xmas ornament book, a microscale town vehicle book and a superman keychain... and a little money, which I used to buy the Joker's Car on clearance at Target.

Our girls each got a Duplo tub and the little one got the Duplo school bus.

Daddy got the Friends Horse Vet Trailer and another copy of Jasmine's Exotic Palace.

Daddy also finally finished last years addition to the LEGO winter village under the tree (Anna & Kristoff's Sleigh Adventure) plus this years addition (the Christmas Train with Power Functions add on).

Last year's addition didn't get done last year due to the extra logistics of the 2nd daughter (who was only 4 weeks old on Christmas day).

Wasn't expecting much from this past Christmas holiday but was very plesantly surprised! I don't buy nearly as much Lego these days (combination of having too much and having a toddler and sorting through Lego purchases from the past few years). However, I was happy to get the following sets as gifts (only 1 was on my wishlist):

-Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & Ecto-2
-The Beatles Yellow Submarine
-Star Wars Advent Calendar
-City Advent Calendar

I'll say this, I never go for the advent calendars (unless it was the castle or pirate ones). City seemed too basic and Star Wars was overpriced. However, receiving them as gifts I look at them in a whole new light -- fresh pieces in new shapes/colors that I didn't have, new sorting trays, fun figs. I'm a fan! (as long as I'm not paying full price for it!)

I also had built-ins added to my office (non-Lego, I know but they server a greater purpose as it's my dual-use room for hobby/work). So I am very much looking forward to getting back into BUILDING in 2017!

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays!

You know..... I just realized that I didn't get any Lego at all for Christmas this year. For the first time in several years

I am pretty sure I made up for it with purchases for myself all January long. Lots of minifig parts
