LEGO Ideas changes the rules on existing IP

Post by Bruce N H »

Hey all,

Tim Courtney announced today that LEGO Ideas will no longer accept set proposals "based on third-party licenses that are active in the LEGO Group’s portfolio." If you go down through the details this includes IP that are in LEGO Dimensions, even if there aren't currently sets being released based on that IP (e.g. Tolkien).

I'm really glad they're making this change, as this is something I've complained about a lot in the past. I do wish they hadn't gone so far as to also include everything included in LEGO Dimensions, as they seem to throw a lot of stuff into that game that they never intend to make actual sets about, but it's good to have clarity on these things.

Definitely a good Idea to me but as you seed the exclusion of the Dimensions themes is rather disappointing.
