Well Jeff, (Greek Hoplite Corinthian Helm) I rwally like the Great Helm (Greek Hoplite Corinthian Helm). The one from the early avatar of your that someone pictured earlier (Greek Hoplite Corinthian Helm) looks great. I do like the other (Greek Hoplite Corinthian Helm) options, but I would have to say a (Greek Hoplite Corinthian Helm) Great Helm. Yes, definitely a (Greek Hoplite Corinthian Helm) Great Helm.
Honestly, I know the Greek helm is in the offing someday, but right now I really am wanting to make Crusaders, and my efforts aren't turning out well. Great Helm for me.
Richard

This is such a hard decision! Here is my list, from greatest want to least.
1. Early Great Helm
2. Roman "Gallic" Helmet/Greek Hoplite Helmet
3. Barbute
4. Armet
5. Viking/Spanglehelm
6. Sallet
I think a good idea would be having some "modular" armor. Like being able to take the top of one helmet and put it on the bottom of another, and each helmet has the ability to use a visor.

Preference
I would actually prefer *2* new great helms, one of the flat-topped variety, and one of the more pointy-topped ones with the cross-shaped overlay on the face. And while we're at it, I'd love to have the proto-great helm, which was flat-topped, but only covered the head above the ears with an armored face mask. It was worn over mail and was common during the early part of the crusades, as an update on the norman/spangelhelm.
Also, with Lego coming out with 5 new styles of castle helms, I'd stay away from the sallet, armet, etc, as I'm sure they'll soon get around to making non-dayglow versions of them.
Good Stuff, BM! i'll be ordering a mess of greathelms!

Jeff,
Let me say that I voted for the Barbute rather than a Great Helm. My problem with the Great Helm is that it will be like the Batlord's helm - by covering the minifig's face, it decreases its playability and usability to me. However, if the face is exposed, it becomes possible to have a troope with different characters, therefore making me want to buy several copies.
Just a thought.

Hey Lenny,
It's kind of funny that the reason you dislike the face-covering helms, is one of the reasons I like them so much (I mean, besides their historical prevalence & coolness). I've found that I can stretch my armies by using lame heads - like some of the Bulls, or even Harry Potter or other non-castle fig, under the Bat-helm or other full-face helms (not that there really are any currently), and save the "better" faces for the open face helms.
