Skin-toned heads?
Skin-toned heads?
So... As I was posting away in General Lego, a thought came to me...
Would it be possible to change skin-toned heads into Yellow ones? A sticker won't work, because the whole head is of whatever that colour is. But could you actually paint it?
Another idea would be to use that silvery stuff TTK used on the armour. You could make a large stock of round silver.. thingymajigs.
(This is, of course, for peopel that don't wnat these figures. Personally, I think it's a shame to waste LEGO, so I'm just trying to figure out a good use for these things.)

Blasterman's 1st post - Nice offer, but I'd probably prefer "silver thingymijigs". Anyway, yellow has not been replaced, thankfully. I don't mind the skin tones, I just don't want to use them and wish they weren't in the former best sets to get castle minifigs from.
Glencaer - I agree. I really like 'em. Blasterman, what colours will you make them in?
Sir T. - Hm... Yes, I suppose that is an option... Although, what shade? Maybe gold thingymijigs would be cool as well. It's a perfect chance to make some treasure stuffs.
Lemon Squeezer - Interesting idea. It depends on how pale these heads actually are.
Blasterman's 2nd post -
Sick? Oh well, I suppose we differ in taste.

I really don't understand people sometimes.
You don't want to use the flesh heads, but you'd
rather "rub & buff" them instead of trading for
heads that you would want to use.
Am I missing something?
Oh, and speaking of taste -
If you think a flesh color is sick, and yellow is normal...
you might want to get those "taste" buds checked.

Those same people really don't like being referred to as yellow.
Back on topic: the standard yellow color for skin tone will always be the right color for a fig to me. Faery races etc... can have the new skin tones, but perhaps my 25 years with standard yellow for figs makes me look past the fact the aren't really skin toned.
I don't think I'll be painting over the new colors, but I will likely have 20 or so Harry Potters I'll be putting in my store. Whatever color, Harry Potters are useless.

After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

The short answer is: no.Devari wrote: But could you actually paint it?

You really don't want to paint or use any sort of funky compound on a head, unless you plan on not putting on hats, hair, helmets or other accoutrements. Or maybe putting something on once and never removing it. Basically, Lego works because it has a tight fit. Paint Lego and it affects the fit. Put a piece on over the paint and it will most likely scrape it off or otherwise ruin it. I can do the outside of helmets because nothing really is put on over them, or fits into sockets that don't affect the paint job.
You can get a fairly sheer decal (see Red Bean's beautiful work) but that doesn't cover up the basic color of the head. If you can't stand the "natural" tones, I'd take up Blasterman's offer.

It is closed right now and for a bit. Something about the SASSER virus killing my old hard drive has left me with little time to add to it for right now. When the store opens again, I will post it in the Buy/Sell forum. Its a pretty small store anyway, I sold the inventory a few weeks ago.Sir Terrance wrote:By the Wlister, what is the link to your store?
