Warhammer

Post by TwoTonic Knight »

Not a lot to write about this one. I was sorting through my bin of spare weapons looking for a fireman's axe to turn into a francisca, when I grabbed a pickaxe and a lightbulb flashed over my head. I'll probably experiment with shapes a bit, but for something that took maybe two minutes to do, I have to wonder why I didn't see it before.

I may be admitting ignorance here, but wouldn't a war-hammer more likely be double-headed, rather than a head with a claw? All the same, I like your approach for editing the pike. Something else to copy!!

I assume you fingers typed pike when your brain meant pick (axe).

Warhammers (martel de fer, bec de corbin) invariably had a hammer on one side, and a claw/spike on the reverse. I can't say that I have ever seen a double-headed hammer. I imagine that there's really not a point to it - a second one only serves to balance out the first, and a claw gives you a different option.

Looks good, and it would work well with construction workers and such too: those mechanic's sets come with hammers much too small. The standard size ones are rather rare, althought they aren't that hard to come across.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense.

Cool! But I'd never customize a LEGO piece no matter how tempting.

I really like how this one turned out TTK. Nicely done. The destruction of all those Halberds in another thread were a little more disturbing, but they looked great as well.

Awwwwww, and those were designed with your hirsute dwarves in mind - who are armed with cut-up halberds if I recall. :D

Yup, those dwarves were armed with cut up dark gray halberds. I have 100's of those still intact so there was no real loss. On the other hand, I only own 2 of the black halberds and I am sure I would feel a bit of a pang if I had to chop them up. :D Can't argue with the results though, both the axes and the hammer are excellent additions to the cut up armory.
