Well, figured I might as well say hi. I have been aware of CC for several years and I never expected to register but here I am. I grew up with Lego (mostly Castle but also Town and Space) and it left a love for it in me that will last forever. A year or so ago I started acquiring sets that I never had plus a few duplicates for pieces. Because I loved romantacised medieval genre, as a kid I used to read the Time Travellers books and as such, I'd always wanted to build a castle featured in the 'Knights and Castles' book I read as a kid. I even spent some time tracking down a copy of that book and was happy when I found it in an omnibus. Loved reading the Lone Wolf series by Joe Dever and am tempted to build the Kai Monastary.
Anyway, not sure I'll have anything awe inspiring to contribute but I might thread mine a few of those review topics of the original sets from the golden era. I nearly have them all now I'll probably have more questions than anything though
G'day

Welcome to CC, Redav! It sounds like you've already got some good ideas brewing; I look forward to seeing your MOCs as they come.

Cheers. Me too. I'm a bit old school so as much as I'm blown away by some of the MOC's at a 'truer' scale than the original Lego models, I still like the original stuff so that's probably the point of view I'll approach when building stuff.

Welcome to CC !
I guess your austrailian ?
Realistic scale is cool...But it takes very many bricks, too many for many of us to build a whole castle...
If you've got questions, ask them, don't be shy !

Hey Redav,
Welcome to CC! Hope you enjoy your stay here and would love to see some of your ideas come to life. BTW, I mistyped a Google image search and got 'Ki Monastery', which is a thousand-year old Buddhist monastery in northern India that would also be a pretty cool build.

Bingo. What was the tell? The G'day or the boardshorts and thongs / flip flops / pluggers I'm probably wearing?Legoorci wrote:Welcome to CC !

Yeah, certainly do take a lot of bricks. I'm happy to sit back and gaze at MOC's that do that. I've been doing that on and off for a few years now. There's certainly been some impressive creations built.Legoorci wrote:Realistic scale is cool...But it takes very many bricks, too many for many of us to build a whole castle...

Oh, I have already started the questions
Even if you spell it right, it still comes up with some cool monastery somewhere. I'll see if I can dig up some pics.Bruce N H wrote:BTW, I mistyped a Google image search and got 'Ki Monastery', which is a thousand-year old Buddhist monastery in northern India that would also be a pretty cool build.

Re: G'day
G'day to you and welcome to the site. When I was eighteen, my brother and I came to Australia for a couple of weeks vacation from USA. We started in Sydney and worked up the Gold Coast to Brisbane. What a blast. I do remember visiting a LEGO store in Sydney, which was the first LEGO store I had been to. Have fun here!
