Hi from The Accidental Castle Builder

Post by WilliamH »

Testing! Testing! One ... two ... three ...

Is this thing switched on? OK, here goes.

Well, my name is William Howard and I've finally been convinced (coerced?) by James Stacey to sign up to Classic Castle and post some of my MOC's - so I thought I'd better say "Hello" first.

Why accidental castle builder? Well, when I got back into LEGO building Technic and Monorail was my thing, castles (and pirates) were themes I built with/for the kids (and it probably shows in some of the models in my BrickShelf gallery). But then a posting in The Brickish Association forum, the development of the CCC wall standard and (later) a meeting with James at a show I organised sparked an idea for a "random modular fortified town" which now seems to have taken over my LEGO building time.

Browsing around the forums I see some of my stuff has already been found by others (and no that steeple is not on backwards as its not a steeple).

I suspect I may ruffle a few feathers here - as I'm not a fan of 6 high walls and I'm also trying to amass enough new greys to see what can be achieved with them - but what's life without variety?

Welcome to Classic-Castle!

I shouldn't worry about ruffling feathers....

For one thing, I think most of us would have more than 6-high walls if we had the bricks.

As for new grey..... That's a bit different. We aren't mad at builders for using it, but at TLC for not making Old Grey anymore.

And besides, none of us HAVE feathers.

I think.

I hope so.

Hey William,

Welcome to the madhouse! I really like your modular town. Don't worry about wall height. The only reason for standards is to make it easier to do group builds. I doubt I've built anything to fit the CCC standard (oh, wait, I guess I did enter last year's contest--certainly not in my normal building, though).
