Hello all!
First, I'm glad to have found this site. I've been involved at the Star Wars site FBTB for a long time, but maybe I'll find inspiration and new ideas here to rekindle my interest in castle.
I've been involved with lego for a long time, I'm 38, so I remember the birth of the the castle theme quite well. My best friend, whom I introduced to lego, managed to aquire this set (677) http://www.brickset.com/search.aspx?Set=677-1 and, man, was I jealous! We had been playing medieval adventures using construction workers with pitchforks and axes for knights. This set blew me away! I guess his grandmother got them in Florida but it was a long time before they became available in my area and time, when your young goes SLOOOW. However, eventually I managed to get seven of these sets!
He also had the yellow castle which is one of the few old castle sets I never got!
Also, the handle I use: Flail, referes to a character my friend had represented by one of the figs in the 677 set with the noseguard helms. Eventually we called all the kinghts in this army the 'flail' army.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my rambling!
Peter
