I have returned.

Post by wlister »

Hi All,

Just a quick announcement to celebrate my return to the posting fold. I am not going to do a massive catch up in posts, so I'll just say. I love the new Vikings line, KKII 2005 is much better than 2004, the quantity and quality of the MOCs I have seen for the building contest have blown me away and the castle galleries on Brickshelf look great!

I can't wait to start sharing pics as I complete my layout for the Supertrain event here in Calgary. My castle portion of the Layout will be 22 48 x 48 baseplates in size.

This is a rough draft of the space my layout will cover. The yellow plates are really blue in the layout.

I'm glad to be back!! :D

Hey Will,

Welcome back! I've done my best to make a dent in your post total while you were gone, but perhaps you'll have to stay away for a couple more months. Back when you went on hiatus, you said: "I'll be back sometime after Christmas with many new MOCs to announce." So, how about those many new MOCs? Have you been focused on train stuff lately, or do you have some new castle for us as well?

Good to see you again Will :D

The layout looks pretty good - It will be neat to see it form up. What was it like being cut off from the internet? That would be an experience worth relating for sure. I know I couldn't survive for that long.

It's good to see you back though.

Hi Bruce,

I think a few people have really worked hard to surpass my total. Never fear, I have a tropical vacation planned for Feb. 01 - Feb. 16th so I'll be away from posting for a short while again.

My layout is a castle layout, I'd be hard pressed to do much in the way of trains as all I have is the white high speed train somewhere in my son's pile of boxes he has yet to open. As to MOCs, I have finishing touches left on about 80% of the village. I still have a chapel and an Inn to build and all the detail work needed to make it look like people live there. The village has 16 tudor houses, an inn, a chaple and a windmill. The houses are currently just shells, but they were all built to have a removable roof and the second stories will all lift out. So I will have many houses to finish after the train show :D

I am currently working on the castle, it has a footprint of 4 large grey baseplates. Pictures of the progress will be posted later this week.

The island in the middle of the blue baseplates will have a watchtower and a dock and will make use of the baseplate from 7047 Coast Watch HQ.

All in all, this project will dwarf anything I have done before. I will be "borrowing" extensively ideas from Classic-Castle when I detail the village. Of course when pictures are posted I will credit all the builders I have "borrowed" from.

As for points of intrest, my castle will be beseiged by a largish red dragon, built using parts from 2 red dinosaurs. Rather than field a huge army, I will have about 200 Black Falcon castle defenders fighting off the dragon.

Yes Bruce, I will have many, many MOCs to announce over the next 12 days. I need to have all my building completed by Jan 30th as I will be on holidays the two weeks prior to the show. So give me until Friday and I will have many castle pics to show off. :D

Thanks for the welcome back Troy T., Bruce, lemon_squeezer2 and forester3291 :D

Yeah, welcome back!

I'm looking forward to see what you can do with the 7047 baseplate, always thought it would look good in a castle model.

Joel.

22 48x48 baseplates? Wow that's gonna be HUGE!

Yeah the quantity & quality of CC2 entries is amazing... I feel so intimidated!

Post pics when ready... :)

Hmm... makes it sound worthwhile to head down into Calgary. If I ever had time, money, or a vehicle of my own....

Welcome back Will! Hope to see lots from my fellow Albertan...

Who? Wlister? Let me think, oh yeah, you are the closest AFOL to me, not counting Mike (who by the way is the top poster, my brother!, but lets not get off topic)

That train layout looks pretty awesome. I wish I could go and see it and you. Only an hour away! Aargh, the curse of being 15!

Dan
