I agree that the price is not important for evaluation, and this information is subjective to change because of inflation. I agree with you Ben.

I'm thinking this thing started out as a royal cart, and was then changed to be a prison cart.
When I first seen it on a catalog, I was thinking it was a royal cart, too. But when I start to learn English, I understand that it was a prisoner cart and not a royal cart. But I think your theory is good.

I made a royal cart in the same way:

Very, very good set, I think it's one set 9.7/10.
Many horses, many peoples, the prision cart is very good, and five horses. Little bit strange, but cool. 8) 8)

The design is crap, but it has good pieces!

I don't know if I'd exactly say that (that its crap) Great bunch of mini-figs and horses in a set. The set itself is a bit of an overkill. I highly doubt a peasant will need to be transported that quickly to the castle to be imprisoned.
He would most likely be jailed at the local magistrates gaol
or given "instant" justice.

Just my thoughts...

This looks like a very cool set. I'd buy it for the horses and minifigs.

one of the many LEGO castle sets wich I don't own.
I had the chance of getting it when I was at LEGO world, but I waithed and when I was back the set was gone, luckally I could get the twin-arm launcher.
I like this set, it has plenty of horses and minifigs, including a villager(wich I still don't have  ). overall I would give this set a 8/10

Unfortunately, I don't have this set, but it is one of my favorites. Like the fact it contains 5 horses, it would have added alot to my caslte collection. But...those are days gone by and lets hope LEGO can come out with better knights that the disk shaped dodos they have now. 9/10.

I'm not quite sure what to think of this set. As far as the pieces go, I think it is an excellent set. Plenty of minifigs and horses for such a relatively small set.

However, as far as design, I think that Lego has since come up with several carts which look more realistic and desirable than this one. The number of horses it takes to pull this small cart is unfathomable. I think this COULD have been a great set had they expanded the actual cart. However, this would have driven up the price, and judging from the looks of the cart, I would guess that Lego hoped to offer this for a cheap price and target the mass public.

I give this an 8/10 for pieces, but only a 5/10 for the set design.

Excellent set! I love all the horses it comes with.

I just wish it were a little easier to obtain.

A great horse pack, though saddles would have to come from somewhere else. Still, I'm not complaining. Great figs, too! :D

Wow... a re-read that I never participated in.... I feel Young again! :D

A decent set here: good figs, lots of horses- great, if not stunning, design.

Parts: 7.5/10
Playability: 8.5/10
Figs/Accessories: 8.5/10
Design (then): 8/10
Design (now): 9/10
Nostalgia: 7/10

Overall Score: 8.08/10

Not a bad set. Interesting design and 5 horses is never a bad thing. Three crusaders and an all-too-rare peasent makes me want to go out and find this set 7.5/10

I don't own this one so my judgement is based on what is available online:

Parts: 10/10 (those 4 horses are always more than welcomed + enough minifigs)
Design: 6/10 (I can't say I like the cart, especially compared to other carts)

For being only $12 (USD), I would have bought this no matter what when it came out. Although it doesn't have very many bricks, it has 5 horses and 4 men! I would consider this a great set to help build up a Crusader village because it even comes with a peasent. I don't see very many weapons though, I would prefer 6038 (Wolfpack Renegades) which has a large supply of weapons.

Great Army builder and town builder. 7/10

A pretty classy classic. It really feels like the old sets as it should...

I would have loved that many horses in one set when I was young as additions to my royal stables and such. The design isn't too bad, especially for now.

I unfortunately don't own this one yet, which is especially sad because i am trying to complete my crusader collection.

Overall a pretty decent set, boosted in my eyes by it's crusader-ness.
