One of the best castles. First large castle set i owned. Just bought another one the other day. Still has great staying power. Plus the amount of figs is just amazing.

I liked that you got lots of soldiers, archers an 4 mounted knights with this set. :D One mounted knight with the large castles seems to be the standard now.

All these long winded descriptions, one would think that there was actually a debate. There is one word to describe this set and it is "awe-inspiring." Unquestionably the best castle set TLC has ever produced 6/5! :D

This is a very special set to me, as it was the first LEGO set I ever owned. I still remember that Christmas when it was set up under the tree. This set and Caribbean Clipper are my two favourite LEGO sets.

Lego really needs to stop naming sets "King's Castle"!

Of course there will be only one King's Castle as far as I'm concerned.

The 6080 was my first large castle set as a kid,a nd it is the castle against which all others are measured.
Loved opening the fort and sitting behind it to play.

Man, this is a great set!
The amount of minifigures you get is fantastic.

Yellow or Black could be also acceptable options.

Clearly, this is the Holy Grail of all the castle sets. I'm glad that TLG still uses this set as a Basis Model for new sets, such 7946 and 70404. This set influenced many generations ahead, thats why it marked a before and after in the Lego Castle storyline.

The wide colour selection on plumes, torsos, saddles, horses and legs bring to this set that 'infinite build" feeling, allowing to the kid to make more permutations with the pieces. Nowadays is possible but a bit morecomplicated because the present lines manages a defined colour theme for the good guys and the bad guys.
