Join the weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 6012 Siege Cart.

Siege Cart, released in 1986, is a ballista for the King’s men. It has three projectiles, a barrel made of bricks, a siege worker, and an archer.

This was my first castle set ever. By itself, it's not really much fun to play with, but I always thought the figs were really cool.

This is brilliant. Yet another set to add to my depressingly high list-of-sets-I-want-but-don't-have.
one crusader+one crusader lion+3 spears+simple siege cart=
7/10 then
8.5/10 now.

Nice little set. Two soldiers with a lot of weapons. Relatively easy to recreate from spare parts, for those who do not have one. Hardest parts to get are the white cones and the yellow cylinder, but they aren't too hard to come by. Don't remember if I ever had this one, I don't think I did, but have one I made from spare parts.

I think that this is best considered an army-builder, although the set design is decent. I can't really say uch more about it: so here's my score.

Parts: 6/10
Figs/Accessories: 8.5/10
Design (then): 5.5/10
Design (now): 8/10

Overall score: 7/10 hmm... I guess I don't really care that much for this set.

Pretty good set. I've tried to win it on eBay a few times but so far haven't succeeded.

A nice little army builder, one of the few Crusader small sets that only had the rampant lion torso. I was never a fan of the crossed axes until I had enough black pikes to make their weapons match the torso. Anyway, decent little ballista, two great figs, decent array of weapons. 8/10 then(it was very cheap) 10/10 now. Not that it would be as cheap now. :(

Actually this is one of those sets that I always wanted but never got.
However I was able to recreate it at a later date.
Still. I wish TLC would come out with sets like these again. Maybe a Vladek attack?
Anyway
we'll see.

Very cool little set, but I don't own it. The balista-like cart is pretty cool, and the two guys are a big plus. If only Lego made stuff like this nowadays...

A real neat set. A long-lost creative venue by the company, now a lost and forgotten venture some of the designers wouldn't dare go today, or so it seems :x . The Crusaders in this set, as well as the extra pieces, make it a cheap and reliable army builder that also supplies pieces that can be used for other functions.
10/10!

I never had this set as a kid, but I always liked it. Now I have several for when my Lion troops need to attack a falcon castle. I like that the siege workers have grey pants. It is a nice way to distinguish them from regular soldiers. I also like the spear projectiles, the snot construction, and the "barrel" made of bricks.

Hello!

I really like this set. It's an unique siege machine and a well built one, too. I like the SNOT style of it.

Also I like how the big "bow and arrow" of the ballista is complemented by an archer with little bow and arrow. Details like this testify the creativity and the comprehension of their matter that the set inventors used to have then. I miss this nowadays.

ok, whatever everybody else said
for a small set, I guess it's probably the best one
one thing that always bothered me about it that it can't really shoot :(

Final score: 8.5/10
