Yes, this pains me too. And you have to take the arrow of the clip, and sometimes the clip falls off. This set has a crappy function, but with it and a few other pieces it can quickly become a merchant or battle cart. So nice part selection, nearly horrible playibility.

5/10

Very not as playable as catapults, as it has been said. :?

But nice and realistic design, and very nice minifigs with grey pants, lion torsos and wraps!!

8.5/10.

I like the idea of it more than the actual execution - I'm not sure about the advisablity of it actually shooting a pointy spear, so I'm not sure that I'd count that as a minus. The SNOT design is a plus, and it's fairly unique in relation to all the 1x1 round throwers, so I'll stretch it to an 8/10 rather than a 7.

Lovely little set. I like how it has capes on both the guys. Good way top get them.

Finally got this one! It is a nice wee build and I like the 'non-catapult' angle a lot. The only thing I don't like is the grey in the figs, but the siege worker explanation smoothes over that nicely.

God Bless,

Fair design for a small siege engine, although not overly impressive. The best feature is the two figs that you get.

I like this set, although it was before my time. It's small, but still has two minifigs. Also, it seems somewhat well designed and looks believable.

9/10

Finally a set that I have(off bricklink), suprisingly this is a exellent model and if you add a rubberband, and a few bricks to make a gauge, you can fling some arrows 9/10
I am leniet to all sets :) gooday to all
NOTE: note that it can cause stress and you need two certain bricks http://peeron.com/inv/parts/4865(for accuracy) and load two or three shots. Also you will need to pull the rubberband back while holding the spears, like a bow and arrow... Accuracy isn't all that good either...

This is a personal favorite. I love the design, and the fact that it comes with two men is nice. This model has a very nice design. I modded mine slightly, to make it sturdier, but it is one of the only 2 sets I still have together.

I'd say a 9.5/10

Thanks,

I like the fact that it has two Crusader minifigures, instead of one and another type.
My only wish is that it had a barrel. Then I would really want it.

7.5/10

It is nice, a 4.5 out of 5, but it would be better if it came with a barrel.
And also a shooting mechanism, it is after all nothing but a pointy arrow on wheels with three spears.

But over all really good becasue of the minifigs and the weapons.

One of my earliest sets, so I have a soft spot for it.

Very few ballista exist in Lego so I'd have to give it 8/10 just for that.

Excellent classic figs and capes and nice selection of weapons.

I like this set alot! When I first got into the crusaders this was one of the first sets I had to get. The two figs is a great start, then adding the simple, but effective design of the cart and ballista are nice (great feather effect witht he white cones!). I especially like how the designers acheived a bent bow by using plates.

I'll give this one a definate two thumbs up!

I have to say that this set is very overrated.

Ok it had two Crusaders, which is nice. However a lot of sets in the classic era were just as good army builders. Spears are the worst weapons as they are so easy to obtain. Other than the spears it has a bow, which is nice, but I feel that Battle at the Pass is a much better weapon builder, and it's a modern set (it is only relatively around 5 times more expensive than this set and has a much greater variety of weapons and a LOT of weapons). There is also no shield which places it behind a lot of other army builder sets from this era.

If this were released today with say Shadow Knights, bley and new-brown, I wonder how many people would rate this so highly. I probably would only buy it to increase my shadow knight army (which is a much maligned and underrepresented faction due to its association with the hideousness of the jelly beans).

I can't give this set more than a 3/10, and only that high because it has a low price point for two desirable figs.
