Dragon Blade
Classics - the Yellow castle knights with antiquated style space helmets and yellow bricks no thank you.
KK1 & Darkforest mini figures yes - or were these not classic enough for everyone?
Castle Legends series has been discussed extensively, I much rather redux style sets like 10176 Classic Castle using the heraldry of the older factions with the current range parts. Black Knight's Castle 6086 I woud like to see a redux version of.
I would like also to see a "choose your own battle pack set "with numerous older faction torsos and accessories to match and mix with.

Mix n match is what I say! My Castle Legoverse has Crownies, Dwarves, Skellies, Orcs & Trolls, KKII Shadow Knights, some Wolfpack, and some well loved Classic Castle minifigs. Might even Forestmen up one day.......It'd be great to see some of the old castle gear around but then it would reduce it's old skool charm.
Castle Lego is my drug of choice.
Re: modern castle? v.s classic castle?
My first major set was the King's Castle.
Later on I acquired the Dark Knight's castle, which was basically an updated version of the King's Castle.
I've also got the KKII Castle of Morcia and KKII Vladek's Dark Fortress.
Those are the major ones.

I agree with Burkey42. I think all the factions add something. I have collected Castle since they were fairly new and with the exception of a decade plus halt have stuff from the 80s and 90s as well as the current line. They all have a place in lego castle I think.

Forestmen will make their return, case rested

What do you want to bet that the Elvin line will represent a form of "forestmen" return? Sounds plausibly accurate considering how LEGO struggles to hold onto older ideas when creating new ones.mrkovach wrote:Forestmen will make their return, case rested

Gentlemen, please stay on topic. We already have threads about elves and forestmen in Dear LEGO..go there if you wish to discuss them. What do you want to bet that the Elvin line will represent a form of "forestmen" return? Sounds plausibly accurate considering how LEGO struggles to hold onto older ideas when creating new ones.
Please do not hijack this thread with this conversation.
As far as I am concerned, I like a large amount of factions..from classic to current. I am happy that some are retired and wish they not return. My Black Falcons do not need revamped and new versions. They do quite nicely on their own. But I would like some more factions.

I like the classic Wolfpack and the Forestmen lines. Those were among some of the first castle sets I got as a child, and they are not your run-of-the-mill human castle factions, either. I like how they are more morally ambiguous than most other human factions, which allows for some more freedom in how you use them. Also, they have very nice, neutral color schemes and fit in with a lot of other factions, including the current line - which for me is the biggest plus.
Re: modern castle? v.s classic castle?
Hello!
I own some of the classic sets, and I love them.
But I would not wish for any old set (or faction for that matter) to return. They all had their time, and they are gone ”naturally“. Even the current sets and factions will disappear eventually, and that’s nothing one should shed tears about. Because everything that leaves makes room for something new.
(I only shed tears about the loss of old grey, but that’s a different story. And I’m mostly over it.)

This is just the sort of nonsense up with which I will not put.

I prefer the modern stuff. I have some mid-late 80's & 90s sets that I am thinking about selling to get more new stuff.

Re: modern castle? v.s classic castle?
The very thing that makes classic castle "classic" is the fact that the line is now firmly entrenched in the past. I love the old castle sets of the 80s and early 90s, however I don't want to see them rehashed again for a new generation.
I'm very pleased with LEGO's current castle products (even if I'm not a fan of the fantasy theme). I'm all for new factions and themes, but I'm not really interested in seeing LEGO reinvent the wheel by resurrecting old lines. I'd love to see some sets that carry over some of the better features of the 80s sets (modular design, greater assortment of basic bricks 1x1 plates etc.), but I don't really need to see a redesigned Black Falcon's Fortress or Black Monarch's Castle with falcon and black knights to boot!

As much as I love them, I wouldn't want the Classic sets back...they're from a different era, an era that is long gone. To bring them back wouldn't work in the long run.

Exactly.Sir Kohran wrote:As much as I love them, I wouldn't want the Classic sets back...they're from a different era, an era that is long gone. To bring them back wouldn't work in the long run.
They were great sets, great themes, and we wouldn't be where we are today without them.
That said, new can be good, change can be good, and while their are many great references to the past I think Lego has hit a sweet spot with the current castle line that they didn't always achieve with the Knight's Kingdom I and II.
I'm sure many children of today will look back fondly on the King's Castle Siege as some AFOL's do the Yellow Castle, Block Monarch's Castle, etc.
P.S. If you need help making MOCs, making posts, or don't know what to do next, please, let me know! I'm here to help!
