I got a couple of these for th eknights and skeletal warriors.

Granted there is not much of a build here, so i tend to view it as almost a mini battle pack!

As a set it is not as fun as things like that little rock raider's cutting device or the astro fighter, but for your army's cavalry wing it cannot be beat. Gotta love the barding!

I got this set for the Black Skeleton horse (I only have one). It appears that this is the only set the the gold barding is in, as the rest have a silver barding instead. I'd say the aforementioned boney horse is also rather hard to acquire otherwise (Harry Potter castle or the giant chess set), so it's nice to have these pieces in an inexpensive set. It also makes these two mounted knights unique in that sense, and I assume these are the champions of their respective factions.

I think it's a good set, and worth the price. Oddly enough my copy was missing the blue flag, but customer service gladly sent me one, which was really nice considering I bought my copy this year, new unopened via ebay seller.

Whoopsie Im late....

Anyway, this set was okay. However, I find it impractical that a knight and a skeleton are jousting. Why arent they kicking the crap out of each other? I thought they were enemies! However, I loved the weapons rack and the minifigs. No use for the pieces, though.

A most excellent set. Fine enough design for a set it's size, great playability, and parts none can argue with.

Parts:
Can't ask for more in a set in this price range. Two fully armoured dudes, complete with two different weapons to pull from. The barrier thing also has a good assortment, including the arches.

Design:
Well for a little jousting set, it's perfect. You have the two armoured knights, a barrier to add colour, and a weapons rack that doesn't look all that out of place, compared to other places they have put them. Makes decent enough sense even.

Playability:
Like I said, it's got all you need in a little jousting set. A kid will be, I think, most satisfied with his parent's money's worth. He can have them charge each other, grab more weapons and have at it some more. A perfectly satisfactory design.

As Jojo mentioned, as a joust or tournament set the design is a little weak. But I see that many people love the figs and horses. Personally I don't like the skeletal horses but I really like the armoured skeleton. I like the idea and I like the printed armour. Ok, so the armour is probably supposed to make it look like he has plate mail over each rib or something. But frankly I just consider it to be black armour with silver highlights. It's something that any "villianous" knight might use even in a non-fantasy setting. And I can never get enough heavy plate armour. Especially since the shadow knight helmet looks so good with that armour.

So anyway, I give this set two skeletal thumbs up, or would if the skeletons had thumbs (the skeleton arms are still an annoyance to me and along with the horses are the weakest part of the whole theme). Sure, it's not a good joust. But who plans to use it that way? Take those arches and make your castle bigger.

And for those of you who don't like the gold slopes, I agree, they are somewhat useless, unless you are building a castle that has the same colours as the human faction in this theme. So not completely useless.

While we're on the topic on this set, my one concern with only having bought a single copy is I wondering how well the skeleton horses will hold up over time, especially compared to the regular "living" horse. There are several places on the skeleton horse that look like it could break rather easily (the spot for a rider for example). I guess time will tell... and I'll have to take good care of mine lone black skeleton horse...

The concept of the joust was poor but the parts were great. I didn't like the armoured undead knight, didn't make sense to me. I think I bought 10 of these.

I am curious. What didn't make sense? I mean, an animated skeleton riding an animated horse skeleton in full armour seems very logical to me.

:roflol: Dan. What I meant was it didn't fit in with the plain black and plain white skellies. Mind you, the undead knight is really a skellie with meat on his bones? Still, I liked the set enough to buy 10! :D

Not a bad set and a pretty good army builder. This set is a good example of something small but well though. As a set, i give it 9/10 :) and as far as pieces goes, it's a 6/10 :?
