I'm impressed with the new minifigs, especially the new great helm and the dark gray mail toso that doesn't seem to have the king's heraldry printed on it, but the buildings aren't really as good as the ones from the first 2007 crownie wave. The castle seems to be build of many more prefab pieces than the one from 2007, and although i like the fact that the castle has a gatehouse, i don't like the design of the gate. The brown machicolations look out of place and the wooden beams that lift op the bridge are on the ouside of the gatehouse, and thu upper part of the building looks just strange.

I am satisfied of the new sets and I'm looking forward them.
I do not care for this piece. As a replacement to the old castle wall element, it eliminates the need for 2x1 bricks to anchor a pair together. The original was bad enough as a shortcut, but the new wall piece cuts the bricks out completely. Not a fan of that.

What I see that I like so far are minifigure torsos, shields and helms. The rest seems very redundant from the 1980s classic Castle line, Knight's Kingdom 1 and the recent Fantasy Castle line. The negative thing about a reboot is that we now see LEGO building up more forts and catapults and we've lost the opportunity to bring the "necessary" conflict into a proper medieval village. I'd have rather had a fortified village rather than another fortress. I'll be after mostly the accent parts and minifigure gear for this go-around, and I do have to say "Thank you" to LEGO for the official Great-Helm.

Thanks Count Blackton! Awesome, awesome. I was beginning to worry a bit after January came and went and all we had were some fuzzy pics on EB. Glad to see these sets confirmed. I will indeed have to get some.... if not all.

Hmm...No bows. I guess I can brinklink those as I don't use quivers for my crossbowmen. I wonder if the Lion knight in the tower set has a new type of armor. Looked to be only pauldrons on the box, but I would love to see a pic of the actual minifig. It's cool to see Norbert back, but now it makes me want to get the two older ones. Maybe those will come out in the new Potter sets. The new portcullis piece is pretty neat, but it kind of makes me want to build one using the fence/rail pieces. Looks like there are at least 3 different Lion knight torsos. I really, really hope another impulse is issued with a mounted knight. I miss those impulses.

Has anybody heard anything about a release date? I'm assuming probably later this spring or summer since they've started showing up in toy fairs, but just wondering.

Overall, I really like them. I am also really excited about all the figs, I could see myself buying multiple copies of the prisoner transport set just for the figs and I'm pumped that the newer pieces like the new great helm are found in the smaller, more accessible sets. I like the colors too, the red and grey go well for the one faction, and I really like the dark green and brown for the other, they have an armored-forsetmen feel to them.

I'm slightly disappointed, but not surprised, at the lack of peasants/civilian figs, especially with all the new farm elements coming out in city theme. The castle does have a modular feel to it though, especially with the tower set. Perhaps later down the line we'll see something added to the theme, another guarded-inn or blacksmith type of set that could be added in would be fantastic.

I was also slightly surprised at the lack of female figs shown in the sets, seems like Lego was really moving in the direction of putting more women into their castle sets, but maybe that's coming down the line and we just haven't seen that yet either.

Anyway, overall, I'm pretty pumped, I better start saving up now. :)

All this looks really good and I'm very happy with all of it. It goes back to the 80s and 90s. I think we've all been wanting this for a long time! I'm hoping they follow up with a blue kingdom and a yellow kingdom next year! That would be good! The only thing I don't like is how the Red King has the same face as the crownies.

I'm hoping we're still looking at prototype pictures. I think that is likely considering how poorly the wizard's face lines up with the beard on the box. So maybe we'll get a bit more printed elements and a different face for the king.

And I think I'm going to like the new castle wall panel. I imagine 4-long is a much easier number to build with than the 5-long. Or if nothing else it should give us some variety.

How many new castle specific molds are we looking at? I see only two: the new helmet and the new horse helmet. I'd guess we should have a few more?

I like the new portcullis design. And the new design on the 3x3x6 corner piece, but it's probably a sticker. I love the Welsh Dragon shields. These sets will work exceedingly well with my own theme creations I am desgining. I have limited workspace at the moment, so most of my ideas are purely in the LDD planning stage. But by the time Kingdoms is released in the US I should be well into the WIP stage.

Amazing! It looks like Lego may start going back to small parts again as well! The picture with the guy on the tower had multi-part battlements! :woo: Not those stupid one- part battlements they've been using for years! MULTI-PART!!! And look at those new helmets! They look like ones you'd get off specialty brick stores, but will hopefully be way cheaper! (Of course they will) And boy I am so glad that the Crownies are finnally gone! That new wall peice may work better then those 5 stud window bricks we all like to use! (They were really starting to annoy me  ) Now we can only hope that these sets are true...

I also only got the link to work once, which seems strange.

Yeah, the boxes are marked with the "preliminary image" stamp sorta thing so they're still prototype.

I too have talked to people and they thought how bad the face lines up with the beard was funny. Instead of using a white beard, they should have just used a grey one! (Well, the picture kind of looks grey, but not all the way)

Hopefully! (Or at least I hope so!)
