Ever notice this before?(opposite Black Falcon crest)

Postby Nicker » Sat Mar 13, 2010 7:19 pm

I was looking at some of my sets a few days ago and I noticed that I have 2 Black Falcons minifigs that have the falcon head pointing the wrong way. My dozens of other Black Falcon minifigs have the falcon head like the archer in the photo and the other 2 are like the minifig on the right. I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this before or has any figs like this?

You know back in the day, way back before you joined, back before the crownies had existed, and back when the first year of KK2 was new, we had a few threads here and there about falcons, some coming rather close to this. But so far as my not-bothering-to-check-old-threads goes, I don't think anyone ever brought this up. Very peculiar. All of mine are like the archer. Very odd.

I've seen this before on Jojo's site (Rittersets). His image shows three versions of the bf crest. I suppose it are misprints.

Yes, I was aware of it. There is also the round bottom vs. pointy bottom variation. Black Falcon torsos are a tricky thing. :)

IIRC, the differences in the shapes of the crests is based on the original BF's versus those that came out in the rereleased Legends BFF set.

Yup, the round vs. pointed shields happened in the Fortress legend. I have heard of the reversed falcon but don't have any. I haven't heard anything thing definite about when they first turned up but it was awhile ago.

Hello!

Back then, around 1986, I first noticed the reversed Eagle crests. I had three of them but I can’t retrace which set(s) they came with. Maybe it’s not a matter of sets but rather a matter of the printing machine, leading to misprinted torsos being randomly added to any sets coming with Black Falcon figures.

Back in the day when I used to frequent Lugnet we had a discussion about this print variance. Not a big deal, but it is irritating if you have few of the Black Falcons and are trying to make a cohesive unit.

For some of you this might be irritating but for other this is just another collecters item.

I checked for mine, and found one misprinted, I don't know wich set he came with, since I had it in a bunch of random figs and weapons.

Count Blacktron> I don't see why such misprints can be irritating, it doesn't make for a non-cohesive unit to me. If you have too much of them, I'm sure you'll easily find people willing to trade with you.
