Seems like if you wanted the real old timers asking about the early castle sets would be more an indicator, king's castle or the likes.

Yeah, except it was written by Lenny, who joined the LEGO hobby in 2001 or so, when 3033's were pretty scarce (but still in demand, and still lamented).

Huh! I didn't recall the 3033's being in Europe then-- but indeed I can see a post from as late as early 2003 saying that Asia and Australia had them in stock. And a post from 2002 asking Brad about why the product was axed here in the US. Interesting! I guess it had a longer lifespan than I remembered!
