oin the weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 6022 Horse Cart.

Horse Cart, released in 1984, was the first cart for the Lion Knights. This set also include a horse and saddle, an archer, a driver/soldier, a round shield, and various weapons.

I kinda like this set. It brings two nice minifigs with a good weapons assortment. The horse Cart, although small, is well built and pretty k00l to use in RPG/battle scenes (or simply for playing) :)

Nice! Another one of those $3 sets with two figs and a good selection of parts and equipment.

This is one of those sets that would go great with Supply Wagon, Maiden's Cart, and Prison Convoy if TLC were kind enough to give us a cart bundle Legend. (oops, they're called "classics" now)

The fact that the cards don't contain much grey would make them go over better as legends.

This is one of the classics that I don't have yet, but I think it would be a great army builder (for a city guard or something) while also providing lots of parts for building your own cards. I wish I had at least four of these.

Probably the best army builder for the Crusaders. A horse, saddle, archer, round shield, and other weapons. Too bad it doesn't have a triangular sheild as well.

good set, comes with a fair amount of weapons, and a horse and saddle and of course a "ROUND SHIELD".

A really simple cart but with a really nice design. Probably the best small carts after 6023. A little note: this set is the first and only set from 1984 the included a brown axe. And of course the nice round shield worth it all.

Final grade: 9/10.

Right on!
That round, grey shield is what makes it fantastic, the rest is'nt that impressive.

Good little set though!

Hello!

This has been my first castle set together with 6040, this makes it stand beyond any criticism.
...though it is not well balanced. Besides this it's a nice cart with a nice selection of minifigs and accessories. Back then TLC was generous enough to add an additional saddle to carts so that the horse could be ridden as well.

Like with every small set from 1984 there are different versions of instruction sheets. The first edition (at least I guess it was the first) showed the minifigures in a hand-drawn style. The more recent (at least I guess...) version shows the front cover picture with the cart hovering before an ocre area rather than standing at the edge of an abyss.

Back in 1984 I got it in the advent calendar, part-wise spread over several days. I never saw the box until I afforded an unopened copy on eBay the other year. *sigh*

Bye

I love the shields, I love the figs and all those weapons. It almost slipped by me, but TLC did used to pack spare saddles with a few of the cart sets, too bad they didn't keep that up. Anyway 7.5/10 then and 9.5/10 now. I would have given it an 8/10 and a 10/10, but I always thought the crossed axe sodiers should have black axes, not brown.

A good set with good minifigs. (what) the set lacks in size (the cart is small) it makes up for in good pieces overall a 8.5/10

THIS WAS A 3$ SET? Sets compared to this now are like 9.00! Timmy, lend me your time machine 'cos I'd buy about ten of these.

The fact that it comes with two minifigs is a big plus, so is the round shield. The weapons & flags I have alot of but would be a great add-on too, the horse is great, and I get a pair of wheels and some bricks too. TLC wouldn't give us a horse and a minifig alone for 3.00 now, so I have to say 10/10, the only minus being that it is not available now.

A beautiful set. Nothing spectacular design-wise, but great for fig-stuff. These were the days: when horses cam with saddles, when figs had generic axe-shirts, and when there were round shields!

Parts: 7/10
Figs/Accessories: 9/10
Design (then): 7/10
Design (now): 8.5/10

Overall score: 7.875/10

What sort of insanity is this!?! The cart looks realistic, the figs too bland and colourless, historical helmets, a round shield just like real medieval (early period) soldiers would use. The kids today would never go for it. It is a wonder it ever sold. *sarcasm off*

Sorry about that. Seeing the way things used to be compared to the current offerings makes me "lose it" periodically. For sure a useful set for army building and horses.
